    Re: meat fast???

    Don't do it.

First off, a meat fast is NOT called for in the Atkins plan. The closest equivalent is the fat fast, and that is ONLY for those who are metabolically resistant and CAN NOT LOSE WEIGHT ON INDUCTION. It is not to be used for stalls, plateaus, or "slow" losses. It can actually be dangerous for those who can lose weight normally.

A meat fast can cause a few problems. One, you're not getting nutrients and fiber needed from veggies. Two, too much iron (found in protein) can cause severe constipation. Three, an excess of protein in the body is converted to glucose, and then ultimately stored as FAT.

The best thing to do is to continue with the plan AS INTENDED and do not attempt a protein fast OR a fat fast.
