Re: Well, I have a SERIOUS Problem.. 1 month and lost NOTHING !!!

I seem to remember from your post in the Review my Menu section that you were eating a great amount of meat (1 kg per day - 2.2 lbs per day... also a liter of oil over three days).http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...093#post663093 Post No. 3

Did you try reducing the amounts?

        Hi Phair,

Sorry to hear about hypothyroidism. There is a forum for this on this site which is useful.

I imagine you'll be on synthyroid (if in the US?) which aims to replace the thyroid hormone that the body would produce naturally. So therefore it is possible to continue with Atkins. I have had the same condition for 7 years and I would recommend Atkins to people with it.

A couple of points - it can take time to get to the right dose so be patient. It is worth eating the Atkins way and exercise if you can but be kind to your body do not push it too far. You may need more rest and more sleep than most people, so don't feel bad about it. Do exercise gently if you can, however as it will make you feel better. Once you are on the right dose (took me 6 months I think, but I felt improvements stright away from the first meds) you can do more.

This condition may explain your feelings of depression that you mentioned earlier - again meds may help, but if not, tell the Dr.

I hope you get good treatment and start to feel better soon

I agree with Baarb. I also have hypothyroidism. I've had it since I was 30, I'm now 46. When I first discovered I had it my doctor put me on synthroid. It didn't take long to start feeling better and eventually we found the right dose for me. At my heaviest I was at 374 untill I found this woe, now I'm at last weigh in at 259.5. So you can definately lose weight and manage your hypothyroidism with this woe. It's the healthiest woe that I know of. I can HONESTLY say it saved my life! Pretty soon you'll be feeling better and experience the great success that everyone here experiences. Here's to better health. Sicerely, Sherri

Well.. good news! Looks like my metabolism reacted and I lost 28.6 lbs in 1 month. My doctor said my stab was the medicaments and tyreoid combined.

I'm happy only more 28.6 to go!
