  • Well, I have a SERIOUS Problem.. 1 month and lost NOTHING !!!

    My menu: posted here

    Medicaments: Bupropion and Trazodone

Exercises: No. I can't. I'm very fat and feel tiredness and plus I work 9h per day inside my office/apartement and enjoy a severe depression. My apartment is too small

    Height/Weight: 5 feet and 10 inches / 231 lbs
    Target: 154 lbs

Past: in 2001 I lost 88 lbs in 8 months with Atkins Diet but in that ocasion I was very active and making exercises.

The problem now I can't do exercises until I move to another house (for the next 3 years) but actually I can't.

I'm getting desperated now facing no results and stabled weight. I need help I don't know what to do now

this is what ive been eating

b: 4 eggs over medium with bacon, or spinach omelet with cheese and bacon
l: greek salad, oil and vinegar, grilled chicken
d: rib steak, burgers, or grilled chicken
Lots of water, and a black coffee every morning.

I would lose the pork rinds, and add some spinach somewhere.

No one is ever too big to exercise!

I started exercising at 265--walking and running, as well as the elliptical machine. Walks and jogs are free, I just go out into my neighborhood, and I went to the gym for the elliptical machine. I understand that not everyone has access to a gym, and there are many things you can do WITHOUT a gym! If you don't want to leave your apartment (safety issues, time reasons, etc.) check out Leslie Sansone DVDs. She has a series called Walk Away the Pounds and people absolutely LOVE them! In fact, my parents use them everyday and they're in their 60s with bad knees--they've found that their strength and mobility have improved after using this exercise series. It's low-impact, but really works up a sweat!

You can also do calisthenics like crunches, lunges, pushups, etc. as long as you have a small space on your floor. You can also use the wall for pushups and wall-sits if floor space is limited.

At first it's tough to get into the groove. I end up having 12 hour days (I'm a teacher) after all of the teaching, tutoring, rehearsals, and lessons are figured in, and somedays I do have to push myself to exercise. But the reward is so great, that I'm always thankful that I've done it.

The reason that I'm so gung-ho about exercise is because with Atkins, "exercise is non-negotiable." Exercise is crucial to a healthy, well-rounded life. and it also morphs your body. Sometimes the scale will lie, but the tape measure won't. Exercise will help you lose inches, which actually is more important than losing pounds. Exercise builds muscle, and muscle is metabolically active tissue, meaning it burns calories just to maintain itself.

Don't think that exercise has to be running a marathon! A half-hour walk, 10 flights of stairs, crunches and pushups, going for a bike ride, these things all count as exercise.

      You CAN do it!

I know how you feel. I'm not losing weight but I'm still losing inches. I just bought my own scale, I was weighing in at the gym, but by the time I go to the gym, In the mornings I drink lots of water. I get really thirsty in the morning. So I'm praying it's just water weight. I'm doing the keto sticks and they are purple, so I know I'm buring fat.

Hang in there and keep posting.

I felt bad when I read your post. It must be discouraging when you are trying like you are.

I looked up your meds on the Internet and found that Trazodone's side effects include:
            Insomnia
            Low Blood Presure
            Tiredness
and it acts like a sedative.

I don't know if you were aware of these side effects? These effects could be contributing to your tiredness overall.
I noticed that you were successful once before with Atkins. Were you on those meds before?
Check with your Doctor about the side effects and...
            DON'T GIVE UP.

Phair, that is fantastic! I think you will be very pleased with your results once you add regular exercise. If you work your biceps, don't forget to work your triceps too.

Well, after a month of 45min exercises per day, 10-15g carbs per day, all medicaments take off, suplementary vitamins ok I'm here for a really bad news: Zero.

I don't know what is this, I suppose I'm very metabolic resistant, right? I don't know how in 2 months in this diet with absolutely no carbs (except from salads and cheese) I'm not losing weight.

Seems like time for DRASTIC measures, what about trying the Atkins fat fast? You can google it, extreme metabolc resistance needs something like that to break it: 1000 cal per day 75 to 90% of your intake has to come from fat, also very low carbs. Have meals 5 times at 200 cal each etc. Keep up the exercise too.

                          Hiya

I had a period of about 6 weeks where I didnt lose any weight at all even though I was doing everything right -- or so I thought. then someone suggested I check my BMR ( basal metabolic rate ) calorie requirements. WELL I WASNT EATING ENOUGH!!!
So i had to eat between 1500 and 1700 calories a day. Basically i was in Starvation mode even though I felt like i was eating enough!. Now i keep track of my calories and carbs on FITDAY ( which is easy and FUN) and now i am losing weight again!
There are a few places on the internet that you can calculate your BMR -- all you have to do is GOOGLE -- BMR CALCULATOR and one will come up. you enter your height and weight etc and it will give you the BMR which is the number of calories your body will require to maintain your current weight at rest - ie -if you lay in bed all day. then you eat about 200 calories over this number and you should be right!
                          Its worth a try !
                          GOod luck!

I have personally experienced that too. I have to make sure I eat enough food or I do not lose. My husband found he has to have a bit of carb, a tiny bit of rice or a tiny potato or he does not lose.
I have heard many many folks over the years claim that when they added a bit more food, sometimes even a lot more food, they started to lose like crazy !!!
That could very well be your problem. I gree, why not give that a try first, your body may think it is starving !!
Also after a month of excercise, are your clothes any looser, remember muscle does weigh more than fat so you could be losing fat and gaining muscle too.
Let us know what you decide to do and what happens. I applaid you not giving up, you will figure it out, just keep up the great work !!!

                              Phair,

Not only will the exercize help with weight loss (and it really will) it will also combat the depression you are dealing with. Exercize is a win-win for all of us. I suffer with depression that I manage on my own. Sometimes I feel like every day is dedicated to not let the depression get the better of me. But, once I have started exercizing I have noticed a huge decline in the depression. Try it out for a week and see if you don't agree. You don't have to run a marathon or do 100 situps or anything sick like that, just do what you can. You'll find you will begin challenging yourself to do more and you will feel so proud of yourself.

Keep with us and we'll help you through.

                              Good luck.
