    Re: Wah!

Juli - I don't do weights every day. I'm sort of sporadic about them, but I end up doing them a couple of times a week, usually. I will do cardio on successive days, though. I love the Octane elliptical. It's like the pre-cor but more difficult (although not as difficult as running). It kicks my bootay!

UK Girl (anj) - thank you. I'm trying so hard. I just can't wait to get into some of my old clothes. And to buy new ones. I love clothes.

Joy - that is an excellent point. The last time it happened I had eaten a fair amount of salted almonds (and was using almond meal). We keep the raw ones in the house and I snack on them occasionally - I wonder if they could be the culprit? I'm wondering what else - lunch meat?

After you figured out that it was wheat gluten, how long did it take for your legs to stop swelling? A week? I can't stop pushing on them. They're less spongy now because I've been drinking green tea, but I'll stay away from the almonds for a while -do you think a week would do it?

      Re: Wah!

I'd like to put in my 2 cents. First, let me say I fully admire the Atkins way, that is why I am on it. However, I have worked out with Master Body Builders in the past and it is traditional to cut carbs way back before competition.

If you look at the physique of a male or female body builder I think you will notice very little fat... we call it being "cut"... to show off the muscles. In competition people are graded for symmetry and the judges have to see your what your muscles look like. This is achieved in the following way, aerobics first, then building muscle through weight training... these are not done simultaneously but one after another, either you are losing through aerobics or you are building muscle (for competitive people anyway) then about 6 weeks before you go on stage you cut the carbs... I mean really cut the carbs... and you can see what happens.

I am not advocating that we here at the Atkins forum all become body builders preparing for competition. What I am trying to say is that cutting carbs (way back in the case of competitors) works for everyone. No exceptions.

          Re: Wah!

Hey Y'all - thanks again for your help! Since the 8th I've stopped drinking soda and stopped eating almonds. I went to the dr. and she thinks it was from salt. I've also dropped 4 lbs and my legs are pretty much back to normal (still a little swollen, but definitely improving - I can see the veins in my feet again!)

So, that's a 4 lb. weight loss for this month, which is ok, not great. Hopefully by avoiding soda and almonds I can do better this month.

          Thanks again for your help!

            Re: Wah!

Sorry, I think I put my post on the wrong thread, it sounds like the salted almonds to me. You may be retaining water.
