I forgot to bring my lunch to work today and don't have the time to go out and get anything. None of the foods in our vending machines are legal so I'm just going to have to skip lunch today. That's no big deal as I'm not even that hungry. But I do have a question. I have read that eating more meals day boosts the metabolism and waiting too long between waking hours can cause your body to store the fat. Will this missed meal make much of a difference on induction as I will essentially be burning the fat instead of carbs anyway?

Re: Missed Meals
it a huge deal!! you should never ever skip meals and the good ol' Dr A said we must eat something every 4-6 hours.
Dont look at it as you'll be burning fat you already have, that isnt the case, you risk putting your body into starvation mode, so when you DO eat your bodies gonna hang on to it all!!
if you dont have time to go out cant someone else go for you? even if its just something snacky like cheese or sandwich meat?HW 303Aug '04 SW-287 LW-232Restart - Apr 07 - SW 266 CW 225

Re: Missed Meals
I don't think it'll be detremental to miss one meal, but having a little cooler handy at your desk, or even stock Laughing Cow and seeds at your desk may help for emergencies next time.
I say, sneak out and demand that you HAVE to get something to eat or you'll just die! Okay, so maybe the last part won't happen, but definately either bribe somebody to pick up some cheese and meats for you or go do it yourself.

Re: Missed Meals
Well I checked the vending machines for anything that would be ok, and no go. About the best thing they had in there was premade tuna salad and I couldn't see the nutritional facts, so I'm not risking it. It's not really the hunger - I just don't want my body to go into starvation mode and hang on to whatever I eat tonight. Of course it's not like I really ever eat much for lunch anyway - generally one 70 calorie can of tuna in spring water gets me by until dinner.

Re: Missed Meals
I don't think one missed meal will wreck havoc with your progress at all. If it was a regular occurrence it wouldn't be so good. But, in future, maybe it would be wise to keep something like a tin of tuna or some olives at your work place, just in case.

Re: Missed Meals
You just need to remember than when you miss a meal your body will burn muscle for fuel instead of fat - that is not good, by anyones standards.
I guess in reality this depends how long your working day is, mine for an example is anything from 10 - 16 hours. it would be severely unhealthy for me not to take something to work to eatHW 303Aug '04 SW-287 LW-232Restart - Apr 07 - SW 266 CW 225

Re: Missed Meals
Depending on what your work is... I bought a small refridgerator to my work and a small microwave. Stocked up on cans of fish and pure meat and cheese and eggs and heavy cream for my decaf. Also some salad veggies. So I am good to go. The fridge is the size of a foot stool, out of the way of everything.
I have a long day today, won't be home till about 9 pm and started the day at 6:30am. So I will have had three meals or so at work from my fridge.
You may also be able to keep a cooler in the car. The thing is planning for this diet can be a bit of work. I do it once a week for the whole week, on Saturdays. That way I never have to worry about what I'll eat when.

Re: Missed Meals
I am only working 8 hours, however I was planning on going to the gym after work for some resistance training. Is it going to be counter-active to work out if I'm just burning the muscle for fuel? If so that's an easy excuse to miss the gymOriginally posted by *Emma*You just need to remember than when you miss a meal your body will burn muscle for fuel instead of fat - that is not good, by anyones standards.

You could always grab something to eat on the way to the gymHW 303Aug '04 SW-287 LW-232Restart - Apr 07 - SW 266 CW 225
