Re: Total Carbs vs. Digestible Carbs???
It's as the others have said for carb grams and fiber.
But for calories it's a different story now. Here's the calorie formula fitday.com uses
Cals = fat X 9 + (carb - fiber) X 4 + protein X 4 + alcohol X 7
Notice they subtract fiber from the carb grams to figure out calories. If you enter the values for Fibersure (a fiber supplement), you'll see what fitday does to it.
According to the manufacturer, Fibersure has 25 total calories, 0 fat grams, 0 protein grams, 6 carb grams, 5 fiber grams. However if you enter those values into Fitday, it will tell you that the calories are wrong and should be only 4 calories according to the formula they use.
It's minor inconvenience for those of us who enter customized foods and use fitday to figure out the nutritional info for recipes. But if you are only using fitday to track your carbs, I wouldn't worry about it.
