    Re: Total Carbs vs. Digestible Carbs???

    It's as the others have said for carb grams and fiber.

    But for calories it's a different story now. Here's the calorie formula fitday.com uses

    Cals = fat X 9 + (carb - fiber) X 4 + protein X 4 + alcohol X 7

    Notice they subtract fiber from the carb grams to figure out calories. If you enter the values for Fibersure (a fiber supplement), you'll see what fitday does to it.

    According to the manufacturer, Fibersure has 25 total calories, 0 fat grams, 0 protein grams, 6 carb grams, 5 fiber grams. However if you enter those values into Fitday, it will tell you that the calories are wrong and should be only 4 calories according to the formula they use.

    It's minor inconvenience for those of us who enter customized foods and use fitday to figure out the nutritional info for recipes. But if you are only using fitday to track your carbs, I wouldn't worry about it.

      Re: Ideas for gettin legal carbs please

      O.k. so supposing that at this point I'm only worried about counting carbs. All this time I've been basing my count on the total I'm given at the bottom of the chart. As soon as I see 20, I stop. What this means is I have probably been eating somewhere between 10-13 carbs a day. WOW!!! Isn't this bad????

      And supposing that from now on I start getting my total and subtracting the fiber like everyone here does, then that means I would have to eat way more than 3 cups of veggies. But then I would be breaking the induction rules.

      I really cannot eat cheese because I'm allergic to it. Where else can I get my carbs in without exceeding my protein percentage?

        20g's of carbs is not the amount that you HAVE to hit daily, it's the MAXIMUM amount that you have to reach daily, if you are eating all of your allowed veggies, but not reaching 20 don't worry.

          Re: Total Carbs vs. Digestible Carbs???

          If you are eating mainly the very lowcarb veggies - like lettuce (aka chewy water!!) then you might think of substituting some of the higher carb options from the 2-3 cup list - daikon, peppers, mushrooms etc which will up your net carb count and have more vitamins and minerals too.
          Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
          Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

            O.k., I won't worry then. I will try different higher carbs veggies instead.

            Thank You!
