  • Water vs. Water

I have posted before that I am not a big fan of plain old water. Now I KNOW I have to drink more and I do try – I bought a big bottle of pure lemon juice to add to it and even sliced up some lemons too but I confess the only way I really like it is with something in it – like Water Sensations or Crystal Light, 4C etc (Sucralose). I have been limiting my caffeine over all and my diet pops (DDP or diet Pepsi) to just one a day. Compared to how I was before this WOE (1-2 coffees in the am, diet pop later in the day - virtually dehydrated) I am floating around! But I am wondering – is the water out of the water cooler some how lessened once I ADD something to it? That is the only way it’s getting into me – I guess that is the bottom line! I know that seems silly but I wonder…

If something is added to it (like crystal lite, etc.), it does NOT count as your water allotment. Even though the main ingredient is water, your body still has to filter out the stuff you put in it.

That is what I was afraid of... so basically I am not drinking any more water than I was before I started. Even though I am drinking at least three 16.9 oz bottles now. that's a big bummer. but I know myself, there is a big water cooler 5 feet from my office door and I never used to use it at all. I figured this has to be a little bit better than nothing.
So this applies even plain lemon water or is that ok? I will have to try to push that more and keep my "sweetened water" as a treat...

My first time around on Atkins I wouldn't drink water without some nice crystal light flavoring in it. I learned my lesson pretty quickly. For me, it absolutely stalled me hardcore. Switching to plain water (chilled though), got me breezing away the pounds. Now, my second time around, nothing BUT water tastes good to me. I had some Diet A&W as sort of a fun "treat/diversion" from water a few weeks ago, but all it did was make me thirsty, and stall me yet again!

I haven't had problems with the lemon slices, probably because it's "natural" and not some sort of chemically engineered product. So yup, it might be tough at first, but stick with plain water, or add a lemon or lime slice. Eventually you'll learn to love it and crave it!

Lemon juice is allowed during Induction phase and it is limited to 2-3 tablespoons daily. The carbs must be counted towards your daily carb count too.

Not wishing to be too picky, but you need to be drinking a minimum of 64oz of plain water a day. And then an extra 8oz for every 25lbs you want to lose.

Y'know, not all water tastes the same, they can taste different.
The market leader here In Ireland is Ballygowan or River Rock and they are both bland and am absoluetly gross, I gag when drinking them.
On the other hand, Volvic water, readily available in the US, is lovely and I could drink it exclusively all day, which I frequently do.

If you drank my tap water, you'd probably be poisoned. There is so much chlorine and other garbage in it. We have to buy bottled water. Alternately, we could get a purification system, but we haven't wanted to put up the $$ for it yet.

Miss Phode, how much would a 2 litre bottle of water cost you? (64oz in American money)

I was the worlds worst when i started this WOE, water without something in it would never pass my lips, and trying to drink it would make me wanna heave... but it was 2 weeks of my life, and i *needed* to lose weight... so i gagged it down - by about day 10 all i did was crave water... i buy bottles each week from the supermarket, but fill them up with tap water each time ive drunk one.

                        *goes to find water*

Miss Phode and I have similar tap water! I use a filter pitcher to remove the excessive nasty stuff in my tap water.

Welllll, that's a hard one to answer Rich. Depends on the brand, what type of store you're at, etc.

I buy water in 2.5 gallon containers (I think) for $3.00 approx.
