well almost as if on cue I just spilled my glass of water (real water - just lemon slices) all over my desk! I will give it my best - I guess that is all I can do. No more crystal light etc. The fact that it causes stalls makes me wonder. I have not been on the scale in a week or so (TOM - I don't dare) but I really felt like I was slowing down alot after week 1! I don't want or need to lose alot and its been said here that this will mean much slower progress for me. But I will give the water thing a GO and see if that helps. After one month I still feel very confused as to whether I am doing this "right" second guessing myself and more importantly not seeing fast results. It doesn't feel easy to me like it seems to others. I wish it did! But nothing good comes with out work right?
Miss Phode and I have similar tap water! I use a filter pitcher to remove the excessive nasty stuff in my tap water.
Our water is too nasty even for the filter pitcher. There seems to be no helping it. One day we'll get an R/O filter. If we run out of water, and I'm really desperate, I'll squeeze a half a lemon into a glass of water, but I can still only choke it down if it's iced. It's really miserable tasting. I cry when we run out of water.
Personally, I think it counts as water. I'm no scientist, but here is my logic.
Water mixed with CL is a CL drink right? What if you drank the water plain and chased it with the CL powder? I am willing to bet your body will respond the same way.
So the way I see it, your body is my hydrated, but you aren't getting the full benefits because whether the CL is in the water or you had it separately, your body had to process it.
If the alternative is no water, I'd go with the CL, as the benefits of the hydration will outweigh being dehydrated. But if you can I'd throw the CL away completely becuase it's more chemicals your body had to process.
I dont live in the US, and don't have access to Crystal Lite. COuld you tell me what it is? Does it come in powder? what are the ingredients of this powder?
We dont get the stuff in the UK.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!
I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!
I buy gallon jugs of water, and drink one (or more) a day.
At first, water made me gag. It just seemed so foreign after drinking pop day in and day out. But now it's all I drink, and I don't drink anything else...except when I go out to the bar. What I mean is that my beverage of choice is water, with means, by itself, and when I'm thirsty.
CRYSTAL LIGHT:
Ingredients: citric acid, potassium citrate, maltodextrin, aspartame (sweetener), magnesium oxide, contains less than 2% of natural flavor, lemon juice solids, acesulfame potassium (sweetener), artificial color, yellow 5 lake, BHT (preserves freshness) Phenylketonurics: contains phenylanine
Phode, I am so sorry for your water. The Britta pitcher clears up this nasty municipal water I have. There are times I'm tempted to get the water from a natural spring nearby but I'm too chicken.
Richt, I agree with Phode. Water cost depends on the brand and the store. We have "dollar stores" here in the US where everything in the store costs a dollar or less. One of these stores sells a gallon jug of water for $1.00 (plus sales tax if applicable.)
dimarr, Dr. Atkins wrote in Chapter 18, which contains another set of Induction rules:
You must drink eight 8-ounce glasses of pure water daily. This can be filtered, mineral, or spring water (not seltzer.) You may also have an unlimited amount of herbal tea (without sugar) but these do not count towards your total of eight glasses.
When you add stuff to the water, according to Dr. Atkins, it doesn't count towards the daily eight 8-ounce glasses. Herbal tea is just herbs soaked in water until their flavor is released into it.
We have an FAQ in the FAQ section about 'what counts as water' because this was a question many people had not only at ADBB but also at atkinscenter.com.
Will this flavored water hydrate you? Yes it will. But it also has other stuff in it. Depending on what kind of Crystal Light you use, it contains Splenda or aspartame. So every serving of that Crystal Light-flavored water counts as 1 of the 3 sweetener servings we are allowed daily. Flavoring the water with lemon juice is okay, but again, according to the Induction Rules lemon juice is limited to 2-3 tablespoons daily and the carbs from that lemon juice is counted towards your daily carb count.
If water tastes too flat for you, you can try drinking it at different temperatures. I'm one of those people who think water tastes better with it's ice cold. Others like it at room temperature. Others tolerate it better when it is boiling hot.
Before Atkins, I rarely drank water. I drank everything else though: Soda, beer, fruit juice, fruit punch, etc... It was a little diificult in the beginning drinking nothing but water, but as others have mentioned...that's all I want anymore. I could care less about soda. Don't miss the other stuff either. Well almost... nothing like a good Guiness.
