  • scary moment.

Ok just a little moment of fear earlier that i would love for some feedback. Ok when i peed earlier and went and stood up i felt off a little, almost felt like i could pass out, but then panic stepped in and i really felt bad, so i took a nerve pill, but still could not figure out what is going on. So im wondering could i be losing to many electrolytes with the water im drinking and all the workouts, i go to my doctor next week for a physical, but not sure if i can wait till then, I also was wondering could it be a lack of potassium since i do take a bp pill with a water pill in it. So what i did was eat a cup of broccoli, since i know it has a good bit of potassium in it, i dont care for avacados and not sure what other veggie carries a lot of potassium in them. But not even sure if that is what it is or what, but i know i have been excercising like crazy and drinking plenty of water, but been sweating very much when excercising. I also want to say that i take a multi vitamin daily. I also ran up to walmart to get my blood pressure checked and sat there for like 10 minutes and checked it about 3x in those 10 minutes since the first reading was 144/84, and the second was 124/77 and the third was 117/70 and bmp was around 75, so not sure about those numbers, i figured the first one was a little high due to just walking up to it and taking it right away. Ok so anyway if anybody has any feedback i would greatly appreciate it, i also think im just going to start eating broccoli daily, im sure it wont hurt me to bad.

Lisa - I'm not sure if the symptoms you describe could be due to a lack of potassium, but having said that, making sure that you get enough potassium is a good thing.

You may have stood up too fast, which can make you feel woozy - especially if your blood pressure was a little low, (you mentioned that you take BP pills). Maybe your doctor should re-evaluate you for that.

Was it a long pee? I only ask this because sometimes if too much heat leaves the bodyquickly it could cause it.

        Hi Linda,
Sounds like your bp #s are fine. Did u know a side effect of a lot of bp meds is dizziness?
As long as your taking your vitamins , i wouldnt worry too much...just bring it up to the dr.
Also, have u had a cold or allergies or went swimming recently? If i get fluid in my ears..it tends to make me dizzy during sudden movement. Just a thought.
Besides that, u mentioned u took a nerve pill. If u have anxiety, that alone can cause dizziness at times..and worrying about the dizziness can make it worse. (been there.done that lol) WTG on all the exercising u have been doing..good for u!

I know that celery, cauliflower, cucumbers, spinach, and nuts have a good amount of potassium in them. Hope this helps!

Hi, thank you for responding, actually it was a lot of pee lol, i felt as though i peed a gallon of water, but i took my bp meds later than usual, so not sure if thats why i was peeing so much. I do have anxiety issues, and of course feeling a little off will put me in a panic attack. Also could it be low blood sugar, i dont know why it would be that, really dont have problems with that but i have read around on here about dizziness and low blood sugar.

              Hey Lisa
Your BP is good! especially as you say you were in a panic!

Are you still on induction? - I found in the first 4 weeks that I had a few dizzy moments - but really think mine was where I was lacking the vitamins (forgot to take them most days) and the constant P'ing !!

Alternatively could be the start of a virus/ear thing.

See how you go - you could always check with your doc if you are worried.

              take care

As long as u are eating every 4-6 hrs..theres no reason u would have low blood sugar.

(dont ya hate those lonnng pee's that take forever...'specially in a public bathroom where everyone can hear u. rofl)

                  Re: scary moment.

I have issues with anxiety as well. It sounds like it was just an episode. I have them often as well. Is there anything you do for your anxiety? I find trying to control my thoughts helps, and just to relax. I also like to keep sugar free "Emer' gen-C" packets at work in case I feel dizzy. It makes me feel better for I too thought it was low levels of electrolytes at first.

                    Re: scary moment.

that might have been all it was. I do have anxiety attacks and seems to be happening more than usual so wasnt sure if thats all it was, but as soon as i took that nerve pill i felt better within a few minutes so i think if it was something else the feeling would have still been there, it was just scary is all i know. i use to not have anxiety attacks but started in the last 2yrs and my first panic attack came after my dad passed and that made me feel as though i was dying from a heart attack, but today was just more of feeling out of it, not to say dizzy but just off a little when i stood and even after i walked a bit, kind of scared to stand back up after i sat, but of course i had started panicking by then but that medicine made it go away, but still convinced it was my potassium i went ahead and ate some broccoli, i think im upping my veggies anyhow just to make sure im getting all of my nutrients.

Wow Lisa, wish I had an answer but don't, however, I am concerned. Looking at your bp readings it looks like you were having some anxiety and then calmed some. If it was high, it would've stayed high. You probably are losing a lot of electrolytes from exercising heavily. They make those sports drinks to replace lost electros but they have lots of sugars and salt. You probably did the right thing eating more veggies.
