How bad is it for me to eat veggies out of the can? I mean I know they are not as healthy as the fresh veggies but sometimes its just convient to just heat up some spinach and eat instead of steaming it yourself...So am i doing more harm then good? I like green beans and things like that too out of the can...

Yep, I'm with Emma. As long as you check the ingredients, go for it!

Re: Canned Veggies???
Fresh or frozen are the best options, but heck, I used canned stuff sometimes just for time/money reasons. Canned veggies do lose some nutrients. Check the ingredients and watch out for sugar and sodium. Other than that, veggies are veggies!START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170

Re: Canned Veggies???
Of course it has carbs in it! We are on a low carb WOE, not a no-carb WOE.Originally posted by c1finebabeCan pumpkin... That stuff doesnt have carbs in it? Can you have it on induction? Sounds really yummy actually.....
Yes, it is allowed on induction as an "other" vegetable. On induction, you should be getting at least half of your 20 carbs from vegetables, and pumpkin is a great way to do it. I eat it almost every day.
Here are the nutrition facts for canned pumpkin:
serving size: 1/2 cup
calories: 40
fat: 0.5g
carbs: 9g
fiber: 5g
protein: 2g
To get net veggie carbs, you suntract fiber from the carbs. So, for pumpkin, each 1/2 cup serving is 9 - 5 = 4 net veggie carbs. I mix it with cream cheese, cinnamon, and a few drops of liquid Splenda and heat it in the microwave. It's quick, easy, and nutritious. Great stuff!

Re: Canned Veggies???
Just want to add, make sure you get the stuff that says 100% pumpkin and NOT the pumpkin pie filling. They're usually right next to each other on the shelf.START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170
