  • New here and have a question

    Hi all,

First of all, just wanted to introduce myself. Hi .
I've been on Atkins before, was mildly successfull, then fell off the wagon, then got pregnant, had the baby....it's been 14 months and I still have some baby weight to love + some extra that was there before. Current weight:193, goal:150.

Here's my question: I'm on day 17 of Atkins, did a clean induction, only lost 4lbs I only started testing with Ketostix during the second week of induction and have been showing low to moderate levels since I started BUT I'm NOT losing weight! I thought that if you're in ketosis you should be losing weight, I've been at the exact same weight (193.4) for almost 10 days now. I've entered my food into FitDay and I average 20-23(last couple of days) NET carbs per day. Any advise/thoughts?

    Thank you

    Hi SFgirl
    Welcome to our ADBB family

If you like to list your daily menus in our 'Review my Menu' forum someone might be able to suggest some 'tweaking'.

Looking at your stats in the first 14 days you lost 4 pounds from a hoped-for loss of 43 pounds. Well that is about spot on being just a bit below 10% of the total wanted.

Now as to not losing weight for the last week or so - this is NORMAL Many posters report losing no weight in the 3rd week or so of doing Atkins as their body seems to need to take some time to settle down into the new eating and exercising regime.

You are only partway through your 3rd week so it is too early to panic so keep on keeping on!

Have you taken some measurements - many people seem to lose inches when their weight is static.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
