  • Just an idea...

Ok…I know this is probably not a good idea but I was thinking…always dangerous, I know. Anyway I was wondering what you guys think of having an atkins shake for breakfast, another for lunch and then an atkins friendly dinner. And a couple of atkins snacks throughout the day. Just an idea…I am hardly ever hungry but I LOVE the shakes so this would be prefect for me. I figure it would cause stalls but you never know…It might just be the jump start I need to get outta my current stall.

    Re: Just an idea...

The only way to know how it will effect you is to give it a good try, say for a week. BUT, here is a few things to consider before you do:

    1. Atkins shakes have been known to stall folks.

    2. The shakes are made of tons of chemicals, and probably aren't that healthy.

    3. Shakes are an artificial way of losing weight, you probably won't be eating two shakes a day to maintain, it might make it harder to transition back to regular eating and not gain back some of the weight.

    4. Those shakes are darned expensive, at least around here!

    5. If you have a bad reaction to them or get too hungry it might lead to bingeing. Also, if the experement fails, you will have lost a week or more of potential weight losing using the regular method. You need more then a few days experement to honestly gauge how this method is working.

But again, the only way to know for sure is to try it. It's your body and your choice, one week out of the rest of your life probably won't hurt you. Just make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. :P

Uhm...just say no to the shakes, hold on to eating the real food...even if it's just small snacks, keep up your water and exercise, and I bet your body will finally get adjusted in it's own time to show you some amazing results. However, I must say I saw a few folks go up a rung or two when they stall...meaning not eating more than your carb limit, but just eating different foods. You're so close to goal that indeed your body's probably adjusting

Hang tight! You CAN do it!

Well, if I can add my 2 cents worth...I did almost what you are talking about. Shake for breakfast, atkins bar (chocolate mocha crunch- yummy) for lunch and an atkins legal supper. Did that 1 week and ended up losing the same thing as when I eat normal foods. Just ended up hungry cause the shakes just dont fill me up. (the bars on the other hand make me really full). So if $ is a concern, eat real food! Cause the others are right...those bars and shakes get expensive...

I think that you'd have a tough time meeting your calorie requirements. The shakes are 150-160, the bars under 200. Doubtful that your evening meal would contribute 1000+ calories.

I like my shakes. I'm not a big breakfast person. I'll have a cup of decaf with heavy cream in the morning. About 10, I start to get hungry. I'll drink a shake and be good until lunch.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Kristy, what rung are you on?

The shakes contain soy ingredients which are not legal until rung 6 of OWL. Once you reach this rung (or are already there) you may try incorporating the shakes into your diet to see if they cause stalls or gains.

My advice is to stick with REAL food, but the choice is yours once you get to the appropriate rung!

funny, I JUST opened my first Atkins shake ever (a friend at work insisted I try it) and it's so YUMMY! Who woulda thought!?!
I hope it doesn't mess me up...

But Kristy, I say try it...You'll never know how your body handles it until you do it, right? Once you move from induction of course.
