Just entered my 'old' WOE into Fitday...

  • Just entered my 'old' WOE into Fitday...

    hello - just thought I would enter how I was eating into 'fitday' to see what kind of differences there were....it's fairly eye-opening...

    when I got back from Vermont, I was eating cereal, bagels, crisps (potato chips), chocolate, ice-cream, curry and rice:
    =2801kcal per day
    Fat 105g (34%)
    Carbs 385g!!! (52%)
    Protein 91g (13%)

    and over winter, I was eating a diet of beer, pizza, hot chocolate, cookies, bagels bacon, cereal and sunchips - and the results are in:

    =3696kcal per day
    191g fat (47%)
    362g carbs!!! (38%)
    97g protein (11%)
    26g alcohol (5%)

    Nowadays, I am eating eggs, ham, cheese, loads of veggies, and chicken breast
    =1740kcal
    fat 123g (65%)
    Carbs 20g (5%)
    protein 142g (30%)

    eeeewwwwwwwww!!! yeck!

    So now when people say silly things about Atkins, I can definitely say that I have reduced my calories, at least...

      That's very illuminating! I came from a very similar (if not worse!) position. Before starting Atkins, I was up to 3 meals a day fast food, eating over 4,000 calories PER DAY. Even if I ate "healthy" at home, I shudder to think of adding up all the snacks, dessert, and random nasty stuff I put into my body.

      I get slammed by friends quite often about how unhealthy Atkins is, and I just fire back. Why didn't they say ANYTHING when they saw me PUT ON 50 pounds and gorge on massive amounts of fast food? Not a PEEP. Why is it only when I lost 67! pounds do they say, oh that's SO unhealthy? I think its easy. The answer is jealousy!

        HOLY COW!!! I just added in a typical daily menu of mine (shameful to admit this) of a breakfast of frosted flakes with 2% milk (more than a serving of the cereal) a hot dog with bun and doritos and a coke for lunch followed by 5 choc chip cookies made from the refrigerated dough. Dinner spaghetti with meatballs, large piece of garlic bread, and a dessert of something like pie with a cookie crust. And drumroll please:

        Total: 3635 Fat:146 1312 37% Sat:54 482 13% Poly:23 203 6% Mono:58 525 15%Carbs:500 1926 54% Fiber:19 0 0%Protein:85 338 9%Alcohol:0 0 0%

        I am AGHAST! And seriously that was a typical day's menu. Note nothing remotely resembling a veggie or fruit passed my lips except the spaghetti sauce. And I didn't even input my two large glasses of sweet tea, ketchup on the hot dog that I would also eat. My eyes are wide open now!

          I did that a couple of months ago. I was amazed at how many carbs I was able to eat and still lose weight, and I actually said out loud "how did I get so fat if I can eat so many healthy carbs and still lose weight?" So I plugged in an ACTUAL day's menu into fitday, one that consisted of chocolate chip banana pancakes, 1/2 a frozen pizza, double cheeseburgers and curly fries, beer, and ice cream.

          It was over 300g of carbs and 6,000 calories.

          No wonder I got fat!

            Holy bag of potato chips!! Those are some really eye opening numbers. I'm so scared to even think of inputing what I ate over winter...it would probably be like an odometer that has to start over again....99999999999....LOL..

            Congrats on doing awesome with keeping score really great!!!

              OK, I had to do the same thing. When I was at my heaviest this was one day of my typical junk food (going to kill myself) diet.

              Start the day at with a sausage McMuffin with egg, hash browns, and coffee with artificial sweetner and a couple of half and half's.

              Lunch, would go something like this. Double cheeseburger, large onion rings and a large coke. Later in the afternoon, I would have to stop back for a butterfinger ice cream treat (large of course).

              That evening, a thick crust combo pizza (1/2 of a 16" pizza) and maybe a nice bottle of Chianti or Shiraz. I didn't even count the crust that my wife wouldn't eat, that I ended up having as well.

              Then maybe a bag of popcorn as we watched a movie in the theater room.

              I plugged it all in and this is what I came up with.

              Calories = an astounding 6536
              Fat Grams = 282 (39%)
              Carbs plus the alcohol = a whopping 784 (51%)
              Protein Grams= 162 (10%)
