  • Question...

    I have a question. It's a bit TMI, but a serious question....

I started this WOE about two and half weeks ago. Well, Aunt Flow came and overstayed her welcome by 4 days, not too mention it was a LOT heavier than normal. Has anyone else experienced a change in their menstrual cycle since doing Atkins? It is kind of worrying me, so any answers would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Re: Question...

I am having the same issue. I have been having a heavier flow and it's been a lot more painful. Not to mention that sometimes I'm late and sometimes I'm early. So to the Dr I went and they put me on BC pills to regulate my cycle. The only downside to it is that I am SOOOO moody. I'm actually thinking of stopping them. I'd rather be all screwed up then be mean to everyone.

Sorry to get off track there....

But, to answer your question, YES I have the same problem. I havent been on this WOE long enough to know if it stops or not.LOL!

      Re: Question...

Weight loss causes slight hormonal changes, so ones cycle is often upset for a while. It's normal and should settle in time when your body gets used to your new way of eating. If you're worried though, check it out with your doctor.
I was settling into the menopause when I started Atkins...but suddenly got regular cycles again. They lasted several months; but eventually the menopause kicked in again.

        Re: Question...

I too had already passed the menopause before I started Atkineering and experienced two fairly light periods about 6 months into induction before settling back to normal.

Any female member who is worried should pop into the Atkins for Women forum where there are several posts about members' experiences.

If you are female and cant see the Women's forum it is because you are not yet subscribed to it, and need to send a pm to one of the admins, Bren or Laurenfra or use the 'join' option accessible from your User Control Panel (click on link called 'User CP').

To be subscribed you will need to add something to your signature block showing you are female.

BTW - there is also a Men's forum on ADBB - so you dont need to feel left out, guys - the same rule applies on needing to display your gender on your signature to be accepted.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!
