  • Shrinking but no weight loss. Input, please...

Okay. This is a little crazy. This past week I went down by 4.5 inches. That would make 15.08 inches in a month.

The scale, however, has decided not to budge from the first 5 water pounds more than six weeks ago!!!!!

Who can shed some light on this for me?
    Started again: 10 November 2007!

    No stats for two weeks.

The scales will catch up eventually!!

as long as either the tape measure or scales are moving you're good!!

congrats on such a wonderful inch loss!

Yep... the scales will catch up (unless you're making lots of lovely muscle) sooner or later, and it's the inches that count anyway. Congrats!!

See page 148 in Dr A's book...

Not to hijack the thread... but how does that work? If your fat cells are emptying shouldn't you see a drop in weight? You say, the scale will catch up... but where is the weight while it's "in limbo"... not on your body inches but obviously still in your body since the scale is the same. Its just strange to me... but obviously SOMETHING is happening if massive inches have dropped.

Good questions...Dr A doesn't give a definite answer as far as I can tell, as to the fat cells emptying but no drop in weight. He says exactly what's been said here though...the scales will catch up. I'm sorry to not be able to give you an exact answer, but I do know that it depends on hormonal changes, medications, increased muscle mass due to exercise, to name a few. He does go into more detail about it in the book.

Nope, it DOES make sense absolutely. because fat weight in pounds is extremely low compared to its size. If you do some search, I am sure is easy to find many articles about this phenomenon... complete with pictures of One-pound-piece-of-fat and One-pound-piece-of-Muscle..... you will be amazed how HUGE the fat is compared to muscle chunk.

Hi everyone. I've stalled this past two weeks on the scales, but I've lost over 12" in that time. I found this thread in the 'most memorable posts' forum. It answered everything for me! Hope this helps why we are experiencing the stall......

That pic of muscle vs. fat is great! Well worth doing a search to check out, as it really brings the difference home.
