SAD! SAD! and CONFUSSED!

  • SAD! SAD! and CONFUSSED!

    Ok guys I need help, this is day 28 and my weigh day, I have not cheated at all, I dont drink any soda's or Caffeen, I am drinking lots of water but I have only lost 13 pounds but today Iam up a pound and 1/2 I dont know what I am doing wrong, I have messured and I am not seeing a big differnce so there has to be somthing I am not doing right, here is a sample of my day


    large glass of ice water
    morning, 3 eggs with saugage/w/cheese
    more water
    usally a chicken salad with no dressing just mayo and viniger the salad has lettece, cabbage, bacon cheese and grilled chicken

    water water water

    Dinner a turkey patty with a small slice of cheese and green beans sauteed with mushrooms and garlic and butter

    water water water.

    if anyone could please give me some advice I need HELP!! I love this diet and dont want to quit but need some advice to helpme stay motivated. PS I dont have TOM anymore and I do exercise at least 4-5 times a week for 30 min. thanks

    Hi Tcbrox,

    I can understand your frustration but please do not worry. A gain can be caused by many random things that will sort themselves out in the end. Exercise, for example, can cause fluid retention.

    Some things to check:
    - Check and check again all the foods you eat for hidden sugars - also check sausage for added fillers like breadcrumbs
    - Measure out your water, don't assume you are having enough
    - It really is worth getting onto fitday and working out if your % are correct
    - Also whilst there, check your calories. You don't sound like you're eating enough, possibly. So check your BMR against your calories.

    It could be that you are doing it all right - sometimes a stall or a gain just happen. You need to make a long term commitment to yourself that as annoying as it is, you are in this for the long haul and you will get there, however long it takes.

    Hope this helps and believe me I know where you're at right now! Don't give up - then you will definately gain and fast.

      Also watch how much cheese you are eating
      I'm a HUGE cheese lover and could eat it all day!!!
      AND 13 pounds in less than a month is AWSOME!!! REALLY!!!

          I agree that you're doing splendidly!
          A pause (it's not a stall) after the initial period of weight loss is very common. Your body needs time to settle down and to realise that you're serious. Hang in there and you'll probably start losing again soon.

          Also, Baarb is right... you might check that you are eating enough against your BMR. You don't want to go into starvation mode.

            It's free and you can put in all the food you eat. That way you can see what you're eating everyday, and make sure you're getting in everything you need. I love it, and I think most people use it

              Go to www.fitday.com to set up a free account. Click the link in mine (and other people's) signature to see the public page.

              Make sure you set up a fibre goal (any number is fine for our purposes) under 'goal' and then check 'reports' once you've entered in your foods for the day. Subtract the total fibre for that day from total carbs on the main screen.

                Hey, 13 pounds in 28 days is just fantastic!!!!!!!

                You've got some wonderful insight and suggestions here from folks, and I know you'll get more, but I just want to encourage you to keep your focus on your over all goal and remind you that although we'd love to wake up overnight skinny, it just won't happen. Enjoy the time your body is adjusting to the weight loss, and tease it with exercise and keep focusing on your goal.

                  Over in the UK thats nearly a stone in a month, thats pretty good going!
                  Dont 4get that you are part taking in alot of exercise now so you will be gaining muscle mass which is heavier than fat. Drink between 3 - 4 litres of water a day, esp with the amount of exercise you are doing, plus give ur body time to adjust to what you are doing. I bet in 4 weeks time you will have lost at least another 5-6lbs, maybe more!

                  Maybe cut out cheese for a week and see what happens? Different things stall different people, cream is my staller!

                    Our bodies are strange things indeed, it will let the weight go when its good and ready and not before, it could just be fluid retention!

                      Thanks everyone so I wont give up just yet, I think I will try that fitday and see if I can figure that out, also I think maybe I might me having too much Cheese, I love the stuff and I think I treat it like a free food.

                        Cheese is absolutely NOT a 'free' food. You can only have 3-4 ounces a day...and that's only IF it doesn't cause problems.

                        However, 13 lbs in 28 days is a fabulous loss!!! You should be very happy with that. AND, I have to concur with Sally who said that a pause in weight loss in that first month...particularly the 3rd or 4th week is very, very common. Go ahead and add more vegetables and move into the first rung of the Ongoing Weight Loss. Lots of people find that doing so kick starts their weight loss again.
