  • this is KILLIN' me!

    remember when you were a little kid and mom and dad took you somewhere special....5 minutes in the car and it was "are we there yet mom?" the closer you got to where you were going, the harder it was to wait to get there......and the more annoying YOU got asking 50 million times...."are we there yet?"

    that is ME NOW! only i am not in the car on my way to my beloved beach. i am 2 pounds from my goal and i promised (with my fingers crossed behind my back) NOT to weigh again for 2 weeks...my last weigh in was saturday. now how on EARTH am i going to wait for almost 2 more weeks!?!?!?!?!?

    i have decided to keep 155 as my FIRST goal but i think my NEXT goal will be 150. i have not been in the 140's since college. i will just play that by ear. i don't want to get ahead of myself here. right now the focus is 155.....and PATIENCE! yep, this is killin' me......i feel like a little kid in the car with my mom, my boogie board in the back of the car, my bathing suit and rash guard on, ready to bolt to the water as soon as the car is in park.....GGGRRR!!!!!!!

    Haha, I know exactly what you are saying. Can you have someone hide the scale from you? Take it away?

    And do you feel the need to weigh because you want to see if you are losing or because you are afraid that you will gain if you don't weigh? For me, it was always being afraid that I would gain weight and not know it if I didn't weigh. I learned to use my clothes to help me figure out how I was doing.

    Anyway, good luck and if you give in and step on the scale it's not the worst thing that could happen.

      MS - I am totally addicted to my scale! I can't help it. Even with official weigh-ins on Tuesdays, I can't help but step on it every day!

        I can't blame you - I'd want to know the minute I reached my goal! How about a compromise and let yourself peak in a week?

          First of all - 2lbs before goal - result!!! thats amazing! Is there any chance you'll do the 2lbs in 1 week? What has been your loss rate lately per week? If there is I'd go ahead and weigh after week 1. Just stay away in the meantime.
          If you are only loosing 1lb per week or less, then hold away for the two weeks - after all whats two weeks after all this time?

                  MS, that's fabulous. I agree with P10--maybe hop on the scale in a week, just to check. Is 155 your GOAL goal, or a minigoal? When are you moving to pre-maintenance!?

                      my name is betsy and i am a scale-aholic! well......2 weeks is a long time to wait so maybe i will give myself until THIS saturday. julie, my original goal is 155. i picked that as a reasonable goal for myself at 5'7". the last time i was really in shape i weighed 152. i was wearing a 6/8, exercising about 4 times a week and felt great. i figured 155 was realistic.

                      so i will call 155 my FIRST goal i guess. WHEN i get there, maybe i will chip away at a couple more 5 pound increments....haven't seen the 140's in ages. i have NO curves in the 140's....don't want to get ahead of myself here. i'll wait impatiently for 155 and then go from there!
