  • starvation mode...now what do i do???

    I was very very very sick for over a week & then my 9 month old daughter was hospitalized, so i didnt eat for a long time. Now, things are all back to normal. My weight was down to 164, now its back to 168.5. What do i do now???

    my husband says its because when your body goes into starvation mode, it starts storing everything that goes into your body, which is why i prolly gained weight back.

    but now im unsure of how to get back into ketosis and get the ball rolling again

    Were you knocked out of ketosis because of poor food choices? You can be in ketosis and be in starvation mode at the same time. If you haven't eaten anything off-plan, just make sure you increase your calories to AT LEAST 1200, and drink your water! Your body retains fat and fluids when it senses an unreliable food supply.

    What phase of the plan were you on? If you made non-legal food choices and you were in OWL, drop back down a rung or two (from where you left off) or drop your carb intake (from where you left off) by 5g or so. There is no need to go back to induction. If you were on induction, continue induction as scheduled.

      ok, he said the same thing,that i would still be in ketosis, but i wasnt sure since i wasnt getting any food in at all.

      I was on induction. So i just keep going as i was? Thats a relief, i hope things drop back down again, 164 was a nice change to see on the scale =)

        No problem. Yep, just keep on going with induction, though I would recommend moving to OWL as soon as possible, since you are so close to your goal.
