  • Bad Problems!!! sad problems!!!!

Hi everyone. I just wanted to say goodbye, I can't do this diet.
    1. Day one, I was sick all night, stomach cramps, throwing up.
    2. Day two, it was worse. I didnt feel better till i finally ate something.

So i decided I couldnt do this.. Not for just a handful of pounds.
and I started looking problems up online, i never knew there were problems cause my sister did this diet and she is such a firm believer.

I read online that the cramping is caused mostly from dehydration.
I cant be dehydrated - i will end up in the hospital and i cant afford that.

I was reading people have died from it, deyhrated, kidney failure (duh!! I only have a half a kidney that works) not worth the risk, and heart problems...

Whats sad is my husband lost 8 lbs in 2 days..
He said he had diarehai so bad, he couldnt stay standing at his machine at work. so this cant work for him either, BUT he is going to keep cutting out the carbs..

I hope this works for some, but please check the medical side of it and make sure u can do ti.. i didnt do my homework.

    Goodbye...

Sorry it didn't work. Drink lots of water to avoid dehydration. Everyone experiences some nausea and sickness the first couple of days as the body adjusts to ketosis. Nobody ever died by saying no to sugar!

Valens, I noticed you don't have the book yet. I'm not sure what diet you have been following--perhaps something you have eaten has caused a bad reaction--something that may be covered in the book?

Valens, the book clearly states that ANYONE with kidney problems SHOULD NOT follow this diet. If your kidneys are healthy, it causes no complications, but the plan should be avoided by those with kidney problems or decreased kidney function.

Best of luck in whatever you decide to do.

            Hi

My doctor is a huge advocate of the Atkins way of life, so I have definitely done my homework and checked the medical side of it.

This way of life isn't for everyone. If done cleanly and correctly by the book, however, this way of eating is very healthy for anyone without predisposed kidney conditions.

I am of the opinion that just about any diet will work as long as it is followed consistently. It is just a matter of finding what you can live with. I wish you well on whatever path you choose.

Dehydration should not be an issue as it's an important part of this way of eating to also drink at least 64 oz of water every day, and more if you're significantly overweight.

Sorry to hear you had problems, but they were very early on, so it's doubtful it was Atkins to blame. However, if you have kidney problems you should get medical advice before low carbing.

All the very best to you. Hope you feel better very soon.
