How much weight needs to be lost before dropping a size? I've lost 25 lbs and my clothes are a little looser but not enough to drop a size. I guess its probably different for everyone, but how much weight do YOU lose before dropping a size?

Re: Losing sizes
It depends on your figure too, with me 10 pounds is about one siize up or down but it takes 6 weeks after I lost the weight for my figure to get to the new size. My starting weigh is 144 pounds and the pounds per size may be different at different starting weights.
I was thnking in particular about how much I lost around my waist, the amount of inches translates into that much smaller belt or waist size in clothes.

Re: Losing sizes
Like Kawi said, it depends on your figure and how your weight is distributed, as well as how much you're exercising. I had a month where I didn't lose any pounds on the scale, but lost MANY inches, and went from a 16 to a 14.
Clothing sizes also differ in how many inches one size is from another. For example, at Old Navy I believe, size 16 to 18, and 18 to 20 are something like 2" from each other, while size 10 to 12, 12 to 14, 14 to 16 are 1.5" from each other, and the smaller sizes are 1" different from each other.
My weight is distributed quite evenly and I started wearing size 12 pretty regularly when I was in the mid 190s. I'm in the low 180s now and still not officially a size 10. I think when I hit 180/high 170s I'll officially be in a 10 in most brands. So for me it seems to be about 20 pounds=a size?START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170

Re: Losing sizes
I just went clothes shopping last week. My summer shorts were hanging off me and I looked like a big bell.
I was size 10/12 when I started, at 140 lbs.
I just bought size 6 shorts, they are not tight, but comfortable.
Took me 5 months to get here.

Re: Losing sizes
I am closing in on a 20 pound loss and, like you, don't feel like I've officially lost a size yet. I was in a tight 18 and now they are loose, but my 16s are still quite snug when I put them on. I don't feel like my size has caught up with the pounds lost yet. I hope it does soon! Because I have like 10 pairs of brand new size 16s in the closet from last summer when I lost weight, I jumped the gun and bought a bunch of brand new stuff only to fall off and gain the weight back before wearing them. But of course my hope is that most of them will stay like new because I'll just move along to a 14 SO FAST! hehe... hey, wishful thinking!
