  • Salt?

I'm new here and to atkins. I've just started induction today. I'm having trouble finding out if salt can be added to my meats?

    Re: Salt?

Dr. Atkins says you can add all spices to your taste except if they contain sugar. I had problems with salt, it caused my hands and ankles to swell up with water retention, so I cut out on the salt. If it doesn't cause you any problems, then you should be okay.

        Hi!

If you think you are overdoing the salt and want to cut back, you can get a product called Lite Salt which has half the amount of sodium of regular salt and has added potasium instead. The benefit of the added potassium is that it helps to reduce the leg cramps that some people experience doing Atkins.

        cheers

            Hello again

I buy Lite salt at my supermarket where the regualr salt is. I am in Australia .. but i have heard people from the states speaking of using it to so it should not be difficult to find !

            take care
