what (practical) method of measuring body fat do you think is most effective/accurate? By practical I mean - I don't have access to a hydrostatic scale or any of the other high tech measures. But I had my body fat done at the gym today using the pinch caliper and the hand held monitor. The caliper said 20.6% and the hand held monitor said 24.5%. The programmer doing the measurements said she "liked the caliper better" but I don't know if she was trying to make me feel better - that is a 3.9% difference... or if one is truly better than the other.
On the plus side - I told my husband this morning I was QUITTING low carb bc I've been so fed up with the scale but as it turns out I have lost some inches - not a lot but some so I'll keep plugging along for now. I may leave the scale alone altogether for awhile a continue to check in a the gym to be measured.
(how does every 2 weeks sound?) For my age/height/weight she (the programmer at the gym) said my body fat is good - only 1% away from being excellent! So excellent is my new goal!!!
