Just thought I would post this in case some other people don't realize that you need to read the ingredient label and not just nutritional labels.
Well, I have been reading through the posts here on the bulletin board and discovered that a lot of foods have hidden sugar in them. I usually read the nutritional label and if it says "0 grams of sugar", then I figure its legal.
So, tonight I decided to check a few of the things I have been eating since re-starting Atkins on May 1, 2007.
Much to my surprise, Kraft Mayo has sugar listed in the ingredients, so does the blue cheese dressing I have been using, along with the hot dogs and the sausage I have eaten. Granted, I guess there is less than 1 gram of sugar in these things since it they had listed sugar at 0 grams. Still, I have been eating some sugar.
I'm not sure if this has had an effect on my weight loss or not, but from now on I really will be more careful about reading through all the ingredients to make sure that none of them are sugar or corn syrup or any other sweetener not allowed on this diet.
Can anyone comment on whether or not they think this might have effected weight loss. I have been and still am in ketosis. Maybe it just slowed it down... Thoughts pls!
