Been easy to stick to Atkins, cept for the one cheat I had at the ranger game (beer, badgirl).

So hubby & I went out Saturday night, had a few diet cokes & rum. I am drinking a lot of water, but I'm wondering what experiences everyone else has had with liquor?

(In a weight-loss sense, LOL don't need any other details!)

ETA: I have noticed that I'm a cheaper date, LOL I can only have a few now!

Vodka and wine dont stall me, however the DC i add to the vodka does, so i'm sticking to the wine for now

      Re: liquor

Vodka didn't stall me, but beer (even Mich Ultra) did. I drink Vodka with club soda as it's essentially water.

I'm not condoning you drink however until you reach that rung of OWL. (obligatory disclaimer ).

sake is not a good idea.. go with shochu.. that will not make you fat and it is meant to be mixed or drank on the rocks..

                Re: liquor

Vodka and diet tonic or diet coke have never been an issue for me. I also did ok during my weightloss with low carb beers, also no problem with wine. Guess i was pretty much ok with all of them. . Though i think it did slow my weighloss a bit..it did not stall me.

I always made sure i did cardio the day after having alcohol (which can be difficult!) to help my body burn it off quicker.

Well alcohol in any form has been the kiss of death for me. After induction it may be possible to drink a bit but definately not during induction.

And of course there's alsways the ubiquitous loss of judgment that can cause you to make poor food choices. Like last night after a night at the bar we went to the diner and I had pancakes wrapped around sausage with syrup...man, it was good...but I'm paying for it today!

Somehow I manage to stay away from non-legal fare. Even in my drunken stupor I slur "No, I can't have that it's got too many caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarbs". But I really over-do it on legal food. Uh, at Christmas I ate almost a whole small shrimp cocktail ring as I enjoyed my wine...my 6 glasses of wine. Needless to say, I stop at 1 glass of wine now.

Higgies- you look beautiful- don't understand why you are still at it. But I'm just beginning and have a question- about booze.

If your on induction or immediatelt after, and you slip up and have a few drinks- vodka, gin- whatever- enough to feel it pretty good. Do you loose the whole ball of wax and have to start over again- or do you loose just that one day? And you will be turning purple the dayafter? Rhonda

Thanks Rhonda This is a lifestyle though and not a quick fix. You gotta keep at it.

About your question....alcohol doesn't really kick you out of ketosis, it just puts it on pause. Your body will burn off alcohol first for energy and not the fat as it does in ketosis. Just keep plugging along. I find it helpful to do exercise the day after drinking.

Edit: semi-hijack...Julie, your new pic looks great! Good job!

Thanks Higgies- then maybe I can stay on the straight and narrow for 5 days a week and drink on the weekends? at least moderately?

And yes agree Julie looks beautiful- I so admire her.
