Well after falling off the wagon yet again I've gained all my weight back. But on bright side I've also learned a couple of things about myself. First, I'm getting more sensitive to processed foods. Now, if I eat any processed grains like crackers, bread, or tortillas, my blood pressure will soar and my head will pound. This happens even if these items are made whole grains. This is the wake up call part. Am I insulin resistant? Am I pre-diabetic? This scared the crap out of me and I haven't had any of these items for a few days. Hopefully I've scared myself enough to avoid them forever. The second thing I've learned is that I can have whole grains that haven't been processed into another form. I can have rice with my dinner! I also have found starchy veggies are okay in small amounts. Not that I want to discourage anyone from trying a whole grain bread or tortilla. They may be just fine for many people. So now that I've been 'scared straight' I'm back to the fold.

Re: A wake up call...
WELCOME HOME!!!
Diabetes was also my wake up call but it took an amputation of my moms leg to really do it. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO!
Best of resolve to you!
