  • Counting Carbs is getting tricky for me...help please!!

Hi...I've been doing an extended induction, but to be realistic for me I need something sweet every now and then! I do not go overboard, it's just like a reward for me. Mostly I'd eat one atkins bar/week and with the carb listed on the packaging makes it easy for me. But I've read the back packages and realized the way I would add it up doesn't come up to what the box says.
So I searched and came up with lots of different answersg, could someone please tell me exactly what i need to subtract or whatever that why I can step away from the atkins bars.

i found sugar free lemon cookies that say 3 cookies/1 carb. But i don't understand HOW they get the total.
it just doesn't add up to me.
any help, links would be greatly appreciated!!!!

jAZZY, You may want to stay away from sweets all together unless they're made with splenda. Do the lemon cookies have flour in them? Try to stay away from processed food. You may be just promoting more cravings and setting yourself up for pitfalls. I'd try to find something else to reward yourself rather than food. Maybe a pedicure, something pampering and relaxing.

Hiya! there are plenty of induction friendly recipes here on the Board that are induction friendly. Chocolate Bark, clouds, cheesecakes ,desserts made with sugar free jello and cream . Have a bit of a look and I am sure you will find something yummy . I would be wary of atkins bars and processed foods etc. they tend to stall people and are full of things that are not that great for you.Do you use Fitday? It's a great tool to help count your carbs and calories and percentages etc.

Here are some links from our own board and elsewhere

          http://itotd.com/articles/266/sugar-alcohols/

Personally - if they had no effect on my body I would count all the carbs as carbs as they are being processed as sugar, but if they did affect my body (explosive diarrhea anyone?!?) I would deduct all or some of the sugar alcohol carbs depending on how drastically they affected me.

However it would be too high a price for me on the whole as who wants to spend half the night on the loo waiting for it all to pass through?!?!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
