  • Breast Lift

    Hi Yall,

Just wondering if any of you have considered or had a breast lift after losing weight? If so, what was your experience and were you able to get it covered by insurance?

I am considering it...although I do not want implants. Just a lift for what I already have.

    Thanks!

    Re: Breast Lift

I'm more then considering it. I'm planning on it. But then, my breasts have never been good looking- big, yes, but not exactly Playboy material. Have you seen the plastic surgery magazine? New Beauty, I think it's called. They usually have an article or two about it. The bad news is that it's not covered by insurance. At least, I don't think a plain lift is- reduction w/ lift might be if you can prove it was/is causing back problems.

I think the non-implant looks more natural, but I've heard that sometimes they have to use an implant for various reasons. Your surgical miliage may vary, talk to your surgeon, etc. My only concern is the pain. I ...am a wuss. I don't "do" pain very well. And I've got a friend who got implants who says they hurt like, well, she just used a lot of curse words. I would imagine a lift hurts even worse.

      Re: Breast Lift

uuummmm i know this is a very personal topic in that everyone has their own opinion. i always say you can't have an opinion til you've walked in someone's shoes. i have never had large breasts so i have never experienced any discomfort from that. someone with pain will have a different idea than me...someone who wants that look will have a different opinion too. i am probably the only woman in SoCA who has her original breasts

at my highest weight i wore a 36 C...sadly i have lost a LOT of that and now wear a 34B :-(. i have had 2 kids but i gotta say, despite being smaller, they still look pretty darn good!!! i think it has a lot to do with exercise and weights.

i think if i had the money for "cosmetic surgery" i'd opt for a necklift! frankly, the only one seeing my boobs really likes them already. if i wanna go for the total cleavage look i just wear my victoria's secret push up....works like magic.

the other thing for me is that i REALLY hate medical procedures (and the risks) and i HATE putting anything foreign in my body. i have a friend who had a lift and implants and wound up with all kinds of problems due to their effect on her body..finally had them removed and she is fine

i guess the best thing is to do your homework and find out the facts.....do what works for you. it is good to ask questions, find out other people's experiences, research your doctor thoroughly. after all that, you will know what works for you and you can make an informed decision. you are beautiful no matter what you do!

        Re: Breast Lift

Thanks, southerner. And Fuschia, your perspective was helpful as well. My problem is I have DD cup breasts, and while they used to be full and perky, now that I have lost wt, not only have they NOT decreased in size, they have become much more saggy to the point where it really is kind of uncomfortable. Maybe this is just normal aging? But I think it is b/c of the wt loss. I was very hopeful I would lose wt in my breasts, but I didn't. So yes, I would consider a reduction and a lift.

It is a personal topic, I agree Southerner, and it makes me nervous to even consider it as I have always been a very big believer in not messing with what God gave you. I guess I never thought they would stay huge after I lost wt!

          Re: Breast Lift

ha ha ha!! you are one of the lucky ones! no one ever says to me "honey, look how nice and small your breasts got" or "wow, look at those skinny fingers". why couldn't that weight have come off of my HIPS!

i forgot to tell you, i do have another friend who saw a surgeon for just that, a lift. he explained a "keyhole" procedure which left some pretty visible scarring but said that within a year, it is mostly gone. you might want to do some research on the internet too. i think that finding a doc you TRUST is key. then you can go from there.

always be an informed patient. (my fiance works in the medical/health care field....YIKES)

              southerner,
you are right, it is a keyhole procedure. i have actually done pretty extensive research on it, but that is never the same as hearing about actual experiences. and you are right, the more info the BETTER. thanks!

                Re: Breast Lift

                Partytrouble,

Okay at my highest point of 185 over a year ago I was in your shoes now. I was down to 155 and my then DD went down to a C. The size was fine with me when I had on the right clothes to cover it up. But without a bra they really hurt and when in a bra they just looked like jello cups to me. So I checked it out.
I found a Dr I loved and every month I would come and talk to him for about 6 months. We went over hundreds of pictures and I am sure some women thought I was a pervert because I would look at them and go back and tell my Dr about what I liked and disliked. I KNOW this is the most important thing of all. What do you want them to look like when you are all done???? Do you want to stand nude in front of someone without feeling self concious or do you just want the clothed look.
We talked about a lift but with that there is the upside down T scar. Then an implant and what if something goes wrong??? What about a mixture of both. I liked not being weighed down by them anymore but did not want the stretched skin either.
So after 6 months and going back and forth I went for a mixture of both. I did get a small implant under the muscle and he cut away a lot of the skin. I am a D cup now and I have gained back a lot of the weight. But I am very happy with my decision to not do one or the other drastic move.

Good luck in whatever choice you make hun.

                  Re: Breast Lift

My aunt just had what the call an 'invisible bra" She had a reduction and they use the skin to form a bra on the inside so you never sag. I am a 38HHH. Let me tell you I would do it in a minute. I dont lose much in that area when i di lose weight, but i have nurse 4 kids including twins and not only do they hurt, bras hurt they hurt my shoulders, it hurts when my kids roll over on them. I can't wear a nightgown or a bathingsuit-EVER!! Now that it is summer I will get a yeast infection underneath because it never sees air! HORRIBLE. I know 4 people who have done it and it's been the best thing they ever did. Like they said do your homework, find a good qualified dr.

                      PT-

No T scar at all. Kinda of gross but they removed the entire nipples and then removed skin in a circle/oval (more from the bottom than the top) around it and then replaced the nipples again. It took about a year for me to get all the feeling back and under my right breast it is still sometimes extra sensative. But I love them now. I am getting some pictures taken (NOT NUDE) so you can see what I looked like before and after. I will post in about a week. I leave for Mexico tomorrow but when I get back I am sure I will have some new photos. Good luck with your disicion.
