Re: Please Females Only...
Its a hard one to call over cyber space. If in any doubt, I would definetly go to your doctor.
For me, I have had one or two irregular periods since I started this woe but nothing that caused me any alarm. If your worried go to your doctor and at the very least be reassured that you are ok.Carmel, F36, 5'10

Re: Please Females Only...
You will hear from a lot of women who this has gotten their cycle early when first starting off on Atkins. Usually your second cycle will be fine. If it is unbearable then you might want to see a doctor to be sure it is nothing more, but the fact that it is early I have read again and again.

Re: Please Females Only...
Hello Dear,
I read in your siggy that you are 14-years-old. Way back in the day, when I was that age, I would have times when my periods would sorta get wonky and reset themselves. I was not heavy then either so that wasn't it. I think your body has to learn how to regulate itself sometimes. However, if you are always regular and have had your cycle for a while, then you might need to tell your parent so you can go to the doctor.

Re: Please Females Only...
Don't fret - when I was your age, I would occasionally have a period that would be quite heavy, very painful - the pain woulden't go away until I eventually vomited, later on that day. And yet some months they were bareley noticable. I think the general rule of thumb is if you are soaking a pad every hour for 4 hours you should seek medical attention.Maeg

Re: Please Females Only...
If you are concerned, you should definitely talk to a parent. I had some issues recently where I was bleeding heavy and the doc told me to come in only if filling a pad every 1 hour. If you think its just a little heavier than normal - take some ibuprofen and it will slow the bleeding (this is what the doc made me do and it worked like a charm).
Feel better!!

Re: Please Females Only...
Great ideas from everyone...Just wanted to mention too that I am on induction and ALWAYS start mine at the same time. I mean, I can alwasy count on when it will happen within 2 hours on the day! Well, this time around, being on induction, I started a day early. I'm a l ittle bummed, becasue I love being so predictable. But I was early and way heavier than usual too. I related it to this WOE....

Your weight will fluctuate from water weight but it should not affect you losing, the water weight will drop afterwards. Actually, your metabolism is suppose to be higher during your period.

YOu didn't say how early you are... My daughter is 14 also...and sometimes she will start up to a week early and sometimes a week late.. She has gotten a bit better.. The first time I did Atkins I missed 3 periods in a row...Talk about being scared...lol If its worrying you I would talk to your parents about it. I think because you are young its normal.

Re: Please Females Only...
Hi...
I'm new here. I've tried Atkins briefly three times before only to fail during induction because of extremely heavy, very painful mid-cycle bleeding. I had a hysterectomy two years ago, so I'm looking forward to NOT having this happen to me this time.
As way of explanation, estrogen and some other hormones are stored in adipocytes (fat cells). As our fat cells shrink, the estrogen allegedly gets released into our blood stream causing havoc with our cycles. I guess the positive outlook on the experience is that even though the bleeding sucks, at least you know you're losing those fat cells (or their contents at least).

Re: Please Females Only...
Dr Atkins did mention this in DANDROriginally posted by cassiusbut does it also slow down weight loss..being on your periodIf you start Induction before or during a menstrual period, it may take longer for weight loss to register.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Please Females Only...
Longer.. but after the period is over, will the weight come off, or will it just be stalled, because the first two weeks you lose the most weight.. but if, my two weeks are up, and my period is on...and its the third week... will i lose??? Sorry if its confusing...
