You better believe it! I like the capsules because they're the easiest to take. Probably the most expensive, too. But...oh well! There are other psyllium husk-type products to choose from and some like Benefiber that others have good results with. In a nutshell, yep, get that extra fiber in.

Some veggies help more than others for me, too. Like spaghetti squash. Others will eat three celery a day... Get at least your 64 oz (plus) of water in, too.

Absolutely. It's so easy to get constipated during induction, you want that extra fiber. Possibly more than just the tsp. Dieticians have recommened 25 - 30 grams of fiber a day; that's REALLY hard to get just through veggies alone.

My 3 yr old son and 14 yr old mrdd child (i have in my home till we can place him in foster home long story his moms crazy and beat him up and i took him) was laughing at me. I was holding my nose and gagging it down. The roared with laughter.

Flax meal is also good for this. Like the psyllium husks, you can incorporate it into foods to make it a little more palatable. Check out the recipe forums for ideas on pancakes, muffins, etc. that use them.

LOL! That's why I do Metamucil capsules. They're SO much easier to take!! You might want to try Benefiber, too. That's totally easy to get down.

                  Re: Metamucil?

I used to mix the psyllium husks into mayo and have them that way with chopped celery - mixing with water just made me gag!!

Then I discovered some recipes using ground linseeds (flax in USA) to get my tablepoon a day in by eating bread or muffins instead.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                    Re: Metamucil?

well, I take equate (wal-mart's cheaper brand) metamucil orange.. has 2 carbs per tbsp.. I count them in my daily allowance of carbs, divide the does in two and take it in 2 separate glasses of water... Is not super pleasant to swallow it, but I know it's cheaper than caplets, and I rather to do that once in a while (I don't get constipated easily, I eat cucumbers with skins LOL)... than to feel constipated. NOTE* Anyways I've noticed that constipation on Atkins doesn't bother my tummy like when I got constipated before with all that junk of flour and stuff. ) I don't feel bloated or moody or cranky or anything, just notice that I haven't gone to the bathroom and there's where metamucil comes in... good luck

                      Re: Metamucil?

I always add a nice handful of Psyllium husks to my mock danish recipe -- great fibre plus it makes the Mock danish a little less eggy and a little more cake like ! Psyllium is also good incorporated in ground beef when you are making meatloaf or beef patties, Flax crackers are also great . mix one tablespoon of ground flax with one tablespoon of water - spread on some baking paper and microwave on high for a minute ( or until crispy) you can also add a touch of cinnamon and some splenda for sweet flax crackers. make sure you count the flax into your daily carb allowance
