    Hi fellow Atkineers!!

I am so addicted to this site. I love to hear all of your wonderful advice. So I am in search of some of it from you. I've been on Atkins for about 3 1/2 weeks and have only lost about 5-6 lbs. I really lost most of that the first week. I have not cheated...the only problem is I'm a pretty picky eater and only eat lettuce/celery for veggies. I haven't really branched out to veggies with more carbs. (afraid I guess) I'm a terrible cook without any imagination so I have told my DH if some weight doesn't start coming off I'm giving up. I drink 80-100 oz water. (gave up my addition to diet soda) I've made the mock danish a few times. What should I do?

I'm also wondering if nuts and cheese stall you? I do on occasion have a sweet tooth and wonder if you can eat the low carb ice cream bars from Breyers or is it too early?

Thanks...luv to you all. You inspire me!

    Julie

    Re: Need Advice

Hello Jules and welcome to this woe. Do you own Dr. Atkins book? Have you read it? What phase are you at? Induction?, Owl Rung 1? It's very important to work the program as it's meant to or it smiply won't work for you hon. What is your daily menu? How many carbs do you take in a day? Could you post it so we can see where and if there's a problem and how you may change things up to work for you? It's not a good idea to eat low carb icecream ,especially so early on into this way of eating (woe) and as far as I'm concerned,NEVER! It may help to to take a look at the induction thread to show you exactly how to go about this woe. It's very important to move up Rungs at a gradual pace and at the exact order that it lists. Not to skip any, or mix it up, or add a processed food because you may have a sweet tooth. This woe is meant to detox your body from all the simple carbs, sugars and toxins that we use to put into our bodies. If I were you I would take L-GLUTAMINE for that sweet tooth of yours it will help you with your cravings and skip the processed low carb icecream! We're in this woe to break old bad habits and begin new healthy ones. Don't give up! This lifestyle truly works for those who work it. Let us know more of your daily menu and what phase your in so we can help you. Sincerely, Sherri

      Re: Need Advice

You can have all those things at the appropriate rungs, check out the OWL ladder in DANDR

cheese is okay in limited amounts during induction, you really should branch out and find some veggies you like, you may think you never liked certain veggies but when you can cook them in butter and cheese n cream they taste sooooooo much different and good!!

Check out lindas site for some great recipes, the ones with *'s are induction friendly!

Congrats on your weightloss so far! 6 pounds is great!!

        Re: Need Advice

If you follow this program to the T you will lose your sweet tooth which for me is the best part. I have so much control over what I eat it amazes me sometimes. The induction goal is to reach ketosis and when that happens controling what you eat is EASY. Any frankenfoods or going off plan in any manner can stall you or cause cravings and defeat the purpose of induction. Get rid of the sweet tooth and control the cravings by following the plan for 2 weeks. IT WORKS. (in the big picture, 2 weeks is NOTHING)

Oh, and many will tell you they now eat (and ENJOY) vegetables they never thought to try before Atkins. And I personally think I have become a better cook. (or does healthy food just plain taste better???)

Good Luck and I hope you don't throw in the towel. At this board we love to share the experience of this WOL and love to see success.

          Re: Need Advice

check out the different threads in this forum - veggie ideas, what are you having for dinner etc. I have gotten so many great ideas for different foods (or just different preparations that I hadn't thought of) I am not a very good cook but i have gotten a lot more creative since starting this woe. Take your measurements too - I haven't lost much at all in POUNDS but I have lost inches and body fat. If you rely soley on the scale you will go out of your mind!!!

Also, Linda's website is awesome - I make stuff off of that site all the time. I cut and paste the recipes and have made my own "cook book" I like so many of them! And Sugar Freee Sheila too - lots of good stuff.

Nuts (esp peanuts) and low carb icecream are really hard to handle - nearly drove me crazy with cravings so you may want to stay away!

          Good luck!

            Re: Need Advice

Thanks to everyone for your advice. My daily food is very similiar:

Breakfast - 2-3 eggs, scrambled or sometimes deviled (at work)
lunch - salad with chicken (blue cheese dressing 0 carbs or olive oil/vinegar)
I usually put bacon bits/some cheese in the salad
or I have tunafish and some celery dipped in blue cheese
maybe I might have 2 pieces of bologna and a couple slices of cheese and celery/blue cheese
Dinner- lamb chop, hamburger patty or chicken
sometimes I have shrimp and dip it in a little thousand island and either a salad or celery in blue cheese

snack are usually olives or cheese

OK, help me out! Am I eating enough? I know it's a bore.......I'm so bad, but I did this a few months back.

            Thanks.

            Hugs to you all!
