I have a question. I'm new at this. My Advantage bar says it has 18 gram total Carbs/3 grams net carbs. Am I counting net carbs or what is actually on the packages for things???

Re: Can'tStop...Trying
Sometimes the bars cause a stall but other people use them with no problems. I've never had any issues with the newer bars that have no sugar alcohol. But I limit myself to using them ONLY on hiking trips since they are easy to carry, because honestly I could eat the entire box if I did it at home. :-(

What phase of atkins are you at? As far as I know none of the bars contain only induciton-legal ingredients so should be saved for when you are at the level of OWL that allows all ingredients.
My own 'rule' on those sugar alcohols/glycerin carbs that the manufacturer says you can deduct is that if they dont affect my body ('bathroom' issues etc) then I have to count every pesky carb as they are NOT passing through my body as claimed, but being processed.
So if they dont affect me and I am going to have to count them I would rather 'spend' my carbs on something more filling and tasty so I dont eat them, and funnily - if they do affect me (explosive diarrhea anyone?) I dont eat them either!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

What induction menu are you looking at? The 2002 version of DANDR doesn't list any bars as induction foods. If all of the ingredients in the bar are listed in the induction menu then it would be ok, but I have never seen one that does. This is from one of the FAQ section above and lists induction foods.

Re: Can'tStop...Trying
I was probably looking at something old but it was from a link off of the adkins web page. You guys having been doing this so I just won't have the bars or the shakes for the first two weeks to be safe.
I have to say my first day was a good one and i wasn't hungry. From yesterday to today I'm doen 2 pounds and that's with the female curse so I think that's pretty good. I'm very motivated. Thanks everyone.

Re: Can'tStop...Trying
Just for the record, page 129 of the book in the Convenience Foods section says "Although it is important that you eat primarily unprocessed foods, some controlled carb food products can come in handy when you are unable to find appropriate food, can't take time for a meal or need a quick snack. As I mentioned earlier, more and more companies are creating healthy food products that can be eaten during the Induction phase of Atkins." It goes on to say "I can vouch for any product carrying the Atkins name." Also, the label on the Advantage Breakfast Bars says "For those following the Atkins Nutritional Approach, this product is appropriate for Induction (phase 1)." So that's both the book and the package saying the bars are okay.Originally posted by MomtofourWhat induction menu are you looking at? That said, I got some bars 2 weeks ago, ate them for a couple of days, and had nothing but trouble. They didn't upset my stomach but I wish they had. I don't know if they contributed to my stall, but I'm pretty sure they did. I also spent the next few days with intense sugar cravings. I don't care what the book or the package says - no more bars for me. I'm convinced they're evil and should be called Sabotage Bars. I just wish the book and the package didn't say they're acceptable.

Too trueOriginally posted by gettinskinnyI think they list them as acceptable mainly for the financial benefit of us buying them....
Always check the ingredients on anything to make sure it only contains ingredients allowed for whichever phase of Atkins you are on.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
