  • Cherries and Rhubarb

I was reading online an article about the atkins diet and the author was supposedly quoting Dr Atkins and was saying that cherries were allowed on the Berry rung . Has anyone heard this and if so , are cherries allowed???

Also , is Rhubarb considered a vegetable? Is it allowed on the plan? I am a bit of a fruit freak and would love to add some variety to my menu

Rhubarb is on the 'other vegetables' one-cup list so is perfectly 'legal' for induction.
Cherries on the other hand are introduced on the 'fruit other than berries' rung of OWL!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I LOVE rhubarb, it was my favourite induction veggie, i still eat it all the time..i even grow it in my backyard! I love it cooked down till just a bit chunky, sweetened with a bit of splenda, and topped with a bit of whipped cream.

once you get to the dairy rung you can have it with yogurt or ricotta too!

That "author" needs to go back and take some basic courses on fruit and vegetable classification! Cherries are related to plums and peaches. So they aren't berries.
