  • I Hate the freakin' mirror!!!

I hate the freakin' mirror, but I cant stop looking at myself on it. Everytime I look at myself in the mirror I see someone who has't changed as far as appearance goes. Now I told my frien to keep scales and not to give it to me untill an agreed time, but a mirror. I could feel that I am losing inches because my clothes went from 4x to almost 2x in 3 months, but ughhh!!! that cloud of dout that looms above me constantly.

    Anyone else feel this way?

    Any advice?

    Hi Hydroflame,

I have had lots of ups and downs with the mirror on this WOL. You lose weight and sizes quite rapidly and expect to see stunning results in the mirror. BUT I think we are the worst people to see these changes because we see ourselves every day and are the most critical. Other people will notice.

Taking photos can help, but focus on he sizes you have dropped - that is great success! Imagine if a friend had done that - you would notice and be impressed.

I hear you... I feel the same way...Especially when I have lost 31lbs and can't get into the next size clothes that I have here..and my other clothes are baggy.. So I keep telling myself I have to be looking smaller.. I mean 31lbs is 6 bags of sugar.. that is pretty heavy.. Just keep working it and you will see it soon

I've lost over 140lbs. Sometimes I still don't see a difference in the mirror.... They can be your best friend or your worst enemy.

try not to put too much emphasis on the scales or the mirror ! think of how you are feeling about yourself ..you must be losing as your clothing size is going down . You need patience and pretty soon your mirror will be your best friend!

Mirrors, like scales can be evil. Never tells/shows us what we want to hear or see.

Hang in there... don't stress about mirrors. Take a break from the too regular scrutiny. Sooner or later you'll "see" the truth when you least expect it... and then, you'll be glancing at yourself in absolutely every shop window you walk past!

For ages, I couldn't see any difference in my appearence... then all of a sudden it happened. Now at goal (for nearly two years), I still glance in disbelief at my reflection wherever I can! Embarrassing! (Nice embarrassing though... and it'll happen to you too if you stick with it!)

Re: I Hate the freakin' mirror!!!

I had my moment like that the other day, hydroflame. If it weren't for the fact that I'm wearing size 22 when I was in 26/28, I wouldn't believe I've lost anything either. It was so depressing. Until I need it to make sure I'm presentable for a job interview or such, the d@mn thing is getting turned around.

Hang in there; it seems like the only reliable measurements are inches and clothes sizes.

Re: I Hate the freakin' mirror!!!

I just started this diet, so yeah. I has been weighing myself everyday and I wasn't seeing a difference and it was discouraging. As others said, a scale or mirror can be your worst enemy.
If you have to take down the mirror or elevate it so that just see your face. On the day you weight yourself bring it down to where you can see your whole body.

And by the way, congrats on the weight loss! You look amazing in your pics!

                    Thanks a lot everyone!!!

Like te scales, I guess that I will just try to avoid the mirror as much as I can, I've come so far and it would be sad for me to fall offf of the wagon because of some stupid things like this.
