  • Kimkins - what is it?

Stumbled across Kimkins on the web. Wonder what way is it different than Atkins? Has she taken the KINS in her name from Atkins?

Tried her website, but, typically, she won't let you know what the plan is without paying money to join - not like this site eh, where it's more important to help people than to make a buck.

So - how is the plan different to Atkins?

I saw mention of Kimkins on a thread in this site too. I checked out the site, but am not sure if this is a viable thing or just a scammy ripoff of Atkin's? It seems to me that most of us lose so quickly on Atkin's (I mean my hair literally fell out from the shock of losing so quickly my first time around), that anything quicker would be unhealthy. Maybe this would be a better avenue for people who regularly stall or can't lose?

Kimkins is LOW-fat and LOW-carb, meaning you get most of your calories from protein. I personally think the plan is sketchy. This Kimmers person doesn't recommend exercise, but she recommends laxatives. I know it's a really low-calorie plan (it's bound to be if you're not eating fat or carbs) and if you look at some people's menus, they're eating like, 500 calories a day.

I would NEVER ever try something like this. I don't see how it can be made into a lifestyle--it sounds too much like a crash diet to me.

...and seeing how Atkins is a way of eating for life, and a way of life style, it's another realm than that one. I'm leary of "diet plans" that make you pay for their "information".

She really recommends laxatives? That is totally insane.

Re: Kimkins - what is it?

that sounds similar to what I did last year for 6 weeks and this year.
Now I get why I stalled after some weeks...starvation mode, eh?
I mean I didn't count carbs and and calories to the extreme but I ate low carb, low fat, so I must've stayed far below my BMR.

I get the impression it's all about money from the site. My thoughts are: Stick with Atkins.

So it's low fat, low carb and laxatives, eh? What do its followers do about hunger?

                        Hi..

You guys are very wise to stay away from Kimkins. She recommends very low calorie dieting..and thinks you can lose a pound a day!! The people at Low Carb Friends have a huge thread about her. It's basically starve yourself thin.
                        So sad..
