Re: Help!!!
Hi, MrsChristy
This is a wonderful idea! Believe me, there may come a time or two when the scale doesn't move as fast as you want it to. That does not mean you aren't getting smaller... your weight may be the same on the scale, but your fat will be going away and when you are gaining muscle at the same time, the scale can be misleading. Trying on my smaller clothes and feeling them fit better and better until they are too big has been a huge motivation for me.
Candy is right - get rid of the clothes that get too big for you. This was hard for me at first, because some of them were in great condition and I'm sure somewhere in the back of my mind they were a cushion for in case I gained weight again. But I decided it is a great sign of commitment and confidence to let them go.
Take Sally's advice... planning ahead is essential. If you fail to plan, you can plan to fail. It is so helpful to have some cheese sticks and cut-up veggies in the refrigerator for snacks and meals. Planning will absolutely save you.
Joining a challenge is a great idea. There are tons of them out there. Read through and see what sounds fun to you. They really do help. I'm currently in the Labor Day Challenge and there is so much support there... it's incredible.
Definitely do try to look at Atkins as a lifestyle change and not a diet. Instead of thinking about the foods that you can't have, focus on the awesome foods that we can have. Visit the recipes forum here and have fun.
I can't stress enough the importance of getting a clean induction under your belt... it completely sets the stage for reduced appetite, reduced cravings, and changing your tastes. I like foods now that I never thought I would eat in a million years. I used to hate veggies and now that is mostly what I eat. Don't be afraid to move up to OWL after a clean 2 week induction. Your food variety increases and you still lose weight. I am up to 45 net carbs now and still losing. It rocks!
Make sure to stick close to the board and post often. This forum is a great support system and a wealth of knowledge. Best wishes to you.
