  • I don't get it...but I like it!

    Has this happened to anyone?

I was dissapointed about my induction weight loss. (Only four pounds).

I started upping my carbs (and was ready to quit) when I noticed that the pounds are suddenly falling off!

I am not doing anything differently (besides eating between 30-50 carbs per day vs. 20) and I've lost 3 lbs in two days.

Any ideas? It is odd to say the least!

Hi, Traci! I'm no expert, for sure, but maybe you weren't eating enough during induction? I know when my food intake is way down--maybe I skip breakfast, have only a teensy zero-carb snack for lunch, and then an "induction dinner"--the scale doesn't budge. I'm on induction now, but maintained Atkins for about 3 years before getting preg last year, and this is/was the case with me.

    Good luck!

      Great job, Traci

This is why so many of us urge those doing Induction and Extended Induction to not fear moving on to OWL. OWL stands for Ongoing Weight Loss, and that is exactly what happens. As long as you advance through the rungs as per DANDR and methodically up your carbs, your variety of foods expands and you continue to lose weight.

I broke a weight loss slow down after my Induction by moving onto Rung 1 and adding more veggies. I stayed on that rung for almost 2 months so I could try tons of new veggies and upping carbs on the weeks I didn't try new foods.

      OWL is wonderful.

I can honestly say that since moving to owl after doing induction for SO long I really enjoy my foods. I am on rung 3 and loving every minute of it. I have lost like 18 inches just since starting owl, thats a foot and a half!! YAY FOR OWL!

I'm starting OWL Monday, so I'm hoping for good results too. Thanks for your post, it encourages me to start up the rungs and not back out at the last minute.

Yep, OWL rules! It's pretty cool when you realize what works and how far you can go. Enjoy playing with your food!

Somehow, "playing with your food" brings up all kinds of ideas NOT related to OWL. Sorry, I must be warped!
