    Hi

    I weight 106 KG I dont know how much is that in pounds
    I am trying for years to lose weight and as u all know its not something easy ..
    so I said why not try the Atkins diet ? I have some questions ...

    -How much can I lose in the induction phase I know it depends on the person but I just want to know the maximum and the minimum weight that can be lost..

    -You cant have more than 20 grams of carbs a day .. Iam not sure how much is that because Iam afraid I might be starving in any part of the day

    -Is walking & running on the treadmill for an hour a day enough as an exercise ?

    -Is it ok if I eat a steak at Ponderosa or those chicken wings at Ponderosa or Pizza Hut or Pizza Inn ? (Not sure which one of them is breaded and how about kebab in general ?

    -Will the Atkins diet affect my health somehow ?

    Im sorry if this was too long but I really dream of becoming thin and slim

    You can expect to lose between 5-10% of the total amount you need to lose during induction, some people lose more, but thats the average!

    your 20 g of carbs are from veggies, cheese, cream, eggs, theyre all accountable, try going to www.fitday.com and inputting some foods, you will see the carb counts

    You will not starve, you can eat proteins liberally, fat fills you up, so if you get hungry eat something fatty, cream cheese on celery sticks etc

    your exercise proposal is a great start, you may want to add more in as you move further forward

    chicken wings - get plain ones as they add sugar to their sauces and the breaded ones are most certainly a no-no, steaks generally fine, never heard of the restaurant you mentioned, just ask them, they'll generally cater to your needs

    Yes it will affect your health - for the better

    I dream of being thin too - at least we're working on our dreams!

        What emma said -- hehe Just wanted to add that you will be amazed at how easy Atkins is -- I am never going back to my old way of eating ! Welcome to the board and goodluck! oh -- and make sure you pop in to let us know how things are going and to ask questions if you have any!

                Welcome aboard!
                I'd ditto the "Read the book" advice. Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 edition) is the one you want. It really helps to understand the science behind this way of eating.

                  Wannabe thin.... Where do you live.... i'm guessing Aus? Yes no??? If you do there are some fast food places you can eat at and a lot you cannot.....

                    Dotultimate ... I dont live in AUS but dont worry I dont eat at fast food resturants that much ..
                    any one have some more tips for me ? Im gonna start the diet the day after tommorow
