  • Creepy crawly flesh

I was wondering if anyone has had any success with creams, etc. in helping their skin tighten back up after weight loss. I am just starting, but I have already noticed that my tummy skin is kind of crepey. I don't want to get thin and then have to have surgery to look halfway decent!

Any suggestions or experiences out there?

Emma is right! Exercise, water and keep your skin moisturized.

Also when people have lipo suction they are required to wear full length girdles for 6 weeks after to help their skin shrink up... I think that might also work for us???? anyone else think so? I used to work for a cosmetic surgeon... so that's how come I know that... no I didn't have it done. gross!

I use body creams... have done since losing weight. I'm not sure if they work or not, as I can't complain of much except a slightly droopy belly button.... but truth is... I'm scared to stop!!!

              Re: Creepy crawly flesh

Apart from excercising, I started dry brushing just recently and am also using a body lotion from Vichy that moisturizes the skin for 24 hours and helps repair it too. My skin has already gotten smoother and softer through this - it's truly amazing.

But since I want and need to loose more than 100 lbs, I aim to loose the weight slowly, in order to give my skin enough time to shrink. However, I gotta be realistic too and acknowledge that I likely might want "nip & tuck" at the point I reach my goal. I also was thinking about getting such a suit that Hopejoy talked about.

Anyhow.... Check out this thread for links to information about dry brushing:

                Re: Creepy crawly flesh

TIME -- it takes a while for the skin to shrink back. In the meantime creams and lotions cant hurt. WATER WATER WATER -- plumps up the skin and makes it more elastic. This is one of the reasons that losing weight slowly is the best way. to test your skins elasticity - pinch the skin on the back of your hand between two fingers then let it go. If if snaps back into place straight away then you have good elasticty and the skin on your tummy should improve soon.

SwissMiss--THANK YOU for that link! Drybrushing sounds fab!

I, too, have been searching for something--anything--that will help my after-baby belly skin shrink back. While I was pregnant, I *religiously* used Palmers and straight Vit E oil on my belly, with ok results until the last 3 weeks.

I can't wait to go out this afternoon and get a brush! Thank you again!!!

Dry brushing, tons and tons of water, exercise, make sure your vitamins contain E, and I take flax seed oil ones as well, and moisturizing!
