  • I Keep Messing Up

I think summer is harder than the winter. It should be easier with all the fresh veggies coming into season. Also the wonderful weather that makes it ideal to be active outdoors and all the summer clothing styles -shorts and bathing suits that would seem to keep one motivated. So why do I keep falling back? Well here is the answer, I am so much more social in the summer. Parties, get- togethers, bbq's, camping trips, etc... And the one thing that most if not all of those activities have in common is I love to party! With wine that is. Wine is my passion, I love learning about it, talking about it, and most of all tasting it and drinking it. I dont drink a lot at one time but I tend to drink it almost everynight. One of my favorite things to do is to sit outside on my deck while my husband bbqs and listen to some good music, watch the kids play, and have a glass of wine. Drinking wine sometimes leads to less than stellar decisions about eating. Also I have found myself on-the-fly so many times without being prepared that I just end up eating bad stuff. Or at an event that has amazing things to eat that I just cant resist. Anyway I am rambling. In the winter it seemed easier. More structure, kids in school, working, etc...I am giving my beloved wine a break for awhile (clean induction again), and I just thought I would vent about it a little.

I can understand how hard it must be for you and I am grateful that I dont drink! Last time i had a glass of wine I had to have a lie down because I felt awul!!!!! I agree about summer having more social outtings and more temptations... I try to always bring a few atkins friendly treats with me to social functions so I can indulge but still stay relatively on plan- but this is not always possible! I try to keep my goal in mind and remain strong when people offer me goodies I shouldnt eat ...Atkins has given me the power to say "no thankyou" ( and mean it!) through the wonderful affects of Ketosis! Hang in there!

I love wine, too. A good glass of wine makes a meal sparkle. My husband and I used to drink a glass of wine every night at dinner. He continues to have a glass or two with dinner (he is not overweight) but not me, for now.

I tell myself my abstinence is not forever. Wine is off the menu along with pizza, mashed potatoes, and several other wonderful foods. Once we reach our goals we may have these foods and drinks occasionally. One more reason to keep on track and get there.

Yes... the wine can be dangerous. It's such an enormous pleasure (and cheap where I live) I re-introduced it at goal (one glass of an evening), but it's the first thing I give up again if I see any sign of weight gain. I'm sure you'll find yourself losing again soon LuckyD, as you've put the wine on hold for a while.
