I am new and this is my first day. I did read the induction book. I don't remember if ranch dressing is allowed or not. I know sugar is a big no no. But sugar is in the ingredients. One gram sugar per 2 table spoons ( 2 carb.) Is that O.K. to have with my salad. Which I already ate so I hope it is. Thanks!

Re: Ranch dressing?
Hi janice,
I eat ranch dressing from time to time with my salads. I never use over 2TBS. though, and I have had no problem with it. And if you go to a restaurant, order it on the side so you can control how much you eat. So, I have never stalled or gained while using it. I also use Blue Cheese dressing, Olive oil with salt and pepper, and even just some plain mayo. Good luck!

Re: Ranch dressing?
The book says "Prepared salad dressings without added sugar and no more than two carbs per tablespoon a serving are also fine."
I've always eaten Ranch dressing without any problem. Recently, I started making my own with no added sugar and it tastes even better. Here's the recipe:
Sosumi's Homemade Ranch Dressing
1 qt. buttermilk (4 cups)
1 qt. Hellman's mayo (4 cups)
2 tsp. Accent (this is MSG), optional
2 tsp. onion flakes
2 tsp. garlic salt
2 tsp. pepper
2 tsp. parsley flakes
Mix well. Keeps for 3 months in the refrigerator.
I usually only make about a quarter of the recipe because it's really big. I put it in a squeeze bottle and it's easy to coat my lettuce that way. MSG sometimes is a problem for people, but if it doesn't bother you, it adds a lot of flavor.
While I'm at it, here's a recipe I just tried for Thousand Island Dressing that's very good! I'm sorry that I don't remember who posted it.
Thousand Island Dressing
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 T. LC ketchup (Heinz makes 1-Carb Ketchup)
1 T. white vinegar
2 tsp. Splenda
2 tsp. dill pickle relish
1 tsp. finely minced white onion or onion flakes
1/8 tsp. salt
1 dash of black pepper
Combine all the ingredients into a small bowl. Stir well and refrigerate for a few hours, stirring occasionally to dissolve the Splenda. Makes about 3/4 cup. If you want to kick it up a notch, add some jalepeno or chipotle.
I haven't tried it yet, but my DH said it's very good! Hope this helps.

Re: Ranch dressing?
Good question, yma
I would imagine as it is not on the allowed list for induction then wait till on the dairy rung of OWL before using it.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
