  • Random Condiments

So, I decided to start the Atkins yet again

Before I get this whole thing rolling, I was re-reading important facts and guidlines to induction and the acceptable food list.

I didn't come across anything that referred to condiments. I'm pretty big on soy sauce and hot sauce and although they are 0 carbs, do you think they will be a problem in my weight loss?

    Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

    Re: Random Condiments

    Hi, Terri!

Some people react differently to certain foods--for instance, regular soy sauce, which has a lot of sodium. I'm pretty sure hot sauce, tobasco, etc., is all legal, but make sure you read the label to check for hidden sugar/corn syrup/starch. I know some BBQ sauces are bad for this. And of course, "sweet" sauces like honey mustard and sweet-and-sour are usually *not* okay, unless you make them yourself from an Atkins-friendly recipe, or they are clearly a sugar/carb free product.

    Good luck!

      Re: Random Condiments

Thanks for the good luck <3 I need it! So I'll just keep an eye out for anything with hidden sugars.

For me it was always the small things, like garlic or seasonings that I wonder "Can I eat this during induction?"

      Thanks again!

      [edit]
speaking of garlic, they say nothing about it on the induction list Can I eat garlic?

sorry for being such a n00b guys, I should know this all by now

        Re: Random Condiments

Garlic is listed with the Herbs and Spices on the allowed list.
But it is fairly carby if you usually eat it in quantity, so do count the carbs.

One clove has about one carb according to fitday, so eating several roasted bulbs would be far too much!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
