    Does atkins lower cholesterol?

    Does the Atkins diet actually lower cholesterol?
    I don't have his book anymore, but I thought I read that a while back...


    Also, how does this WOE affect the liver?

      it can affect the kidney if you dont drink enough water...

      and yes it can lower your cholesterol!

          My total cholesterol at a pre-employment physical in 1999 was 239.

          My last physical in July, total cholesterol 169.

                  Yep... most people see a significant improvement in cholesterol levels.. BP numbers too... Dr. Atkins was a cardiologist before he became a weight loss expert. Blood sugar improves too. It's just plain healthy!
