  • I'm a newb and I have questions..any help? lol

Ok...hello everyone. lol I've lost about 130 pounds overall. I weigh 158 now. I'm 5'7. (just for future referance) In the past my diet plans were just...eating less and working hard...then it went to eating pretty much nothing and doing almost nothing. I guess that's..yo yo dieting? Anyways, now I've been just counting calories and eating good food. Salads, fresh fruit and veges, some meat. No bread whatsoever in like...many many months. No pop. Only tea, coffee and water. That got me down from 185 last winter to 158 by this summer. But when I say counting calories..I mean 900 per day. A little bit of everything but very little protien. So I tried working out all summer and lost more inches but not weight.

Enough of that, I'll get to the point. I have 20-30 more pounds to lose and I'd like to do it by Halloween. I'm new to Atkins and I'd like to know if there's anyone who was my weight (preferably a girl) who lost that amount. And if so, how long did it take? I mean..is my goal do-able?
Secondly, this is for anyone, do you count calories at all? Because before if I ate 1000+ calories I would either gain weight or stay the same. So..I'm skeptical. It's hard not to eat a lot of calories with Atkins.

If anyone could help me out I would really appretiate it. This is basically a last shot for me. Because I've literally tried everything but diet pills (and I looked at that last week). Thanks.

You should read the book before you jump into doing Atkins. It's very helpful.
900 calories are waaaay too little, aren't they?
Are you hungry all the time? *sorry, I'm just curious*

Can you lose that much weight? It's possible. I lost 12lbs in one month. But that doesn't mean your body is going to react the same. Other people have lost as much 18lbs, I think I read somewhere on the board, during induction.

Carbs are the key thing for this diet, but you have to read the book to help better guide you.

Water and exercise are a MUST.
Read around the board you'll find many helpful posts.

thats a scarily low calorie count, you wouldnt get that low on atkins, we eat fat, fat makes us lose weight, fat has lots of calories in it...

Dr A said, "dont count calories" he didnt say that calories dont count, but you should be eating at or slightly above your BMR, i dont know if you'll lose weight or gain weight, ive never konwn anyone who followed atkins correctly gain weight, but if your intending on staying at that calorie count, i dunno, atkins just isnt right for you, if you are willing to give it a go, by the book, eating at your BMR, or ignoring your calorie count and eating until you are satisfied then i think you could work to getting those last pounds off... it wont come off quickly, i have about 30 left to go and its slow going... but slowlyy but surely, its coming off.

how do you live like that? oh man that would drive me nuts!!
