  • Low fat and Low carb... where's the happy medium?

A couple weeks ago I started seeing a guy who eats low fat. He knows I am on Atkins and he supports that. He doesn't need to lose any weight but prefers to eat what he considers "healthy." He invites me over a couple times a week and cooks for me. Problem is, between his low fat, and my low carb, basically all we eat is chicken breast with steamed veggies. Not that I'm complaining, because any man that cooks is good in my eyes! I'm just wondering if anyone has any meal suggestions that would suit us both. The man won't even eat cheese for crying out loud, lol.

Just add olive oil to yours. Or, have a side of avocado or something like that.

I too was going to suggest avocado, also you could have salads, he can have his dressing, you can have yours...burgers, yours can be regular without the bun, his can be a turkey burger...

When eating out my solution is to add butter to steamed veggies - in fact I often take a few wrapped butter pats with me so I can discretely pop a couple on top of them!! (Sad, I know!!)
This is as well as the small packs of fullfat mayo in my bag - oh, and the couple of herbal teabags and some splenda.
No wonder my DH says my handbag weighs a ton!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

He needs a little education. He won't eat almonds or EVOO? He needs some fat. You need to work on him. At this point in my dietary journey I think fat is critical to good health. He dosen't have to eat butter or hamburger meat or bacon - but he needs some fat.

            Absolutely.. Fat is brain food...

There are several very nasty complications that he may experience in old age from depriving his body of fat.

You might suggest fish.. then you could add butter and lemon to yours and make a picata.. He could have his with just lemon. Salads was a great ideal.. you can have bacon, cheese, avocado and mayo dressing while he had lemon juice...
