  • Somehow it worked ..but I don't know how I did it!!

    I know you guys won't believe my results but I will share it with you. Last year I did Atkins for 30 days .. it was basically 30 days of induction. But guess what ..I had all the salads I wanted with any dressing and ate any breads that came with it. I had KFC almost 2 or 3 times a week. I ate floured shrimps and skalope steaks. My weight dropped rapidly on the first week. then stopped dropping for the next 10-12 days. then dropped again rapidly. By the 20th day I was feeling tired and energyless and my face was blackish and sleepy.

    I lost in 30 days only ..a total of 26.5 Ibs. = 12 KG.

    If I was what you might concider "cheating" then how did I lose and why was I feeling tired and energyless? ..isn't it supposed to be the opposite? But I don't like to think about it ..I just like to think that it actually happened and I wanna do it again.

    I'm now starting Atkins again and have been on it for 5 days so far. I'm paying more attention now and making it more fun by getting low carbs snacks and atkins bars and shakes. And also having allowed nuts. Im really hoping I will see similar results.

    I seriously recommend that you get hold of the DANDR 2002 and read it thouroughly before you damage your health! If you are to do Atkins properly and be successful you really must follow the book to the letter . You must eat as directed including Vegetables and you must drink the required amount of water or your kidneys can be damaged. doing atkins properly you should not feel tired or energy less and your face should NOT BE BLACKISH and SLEEPY!!!

    It is recommended that you do not use the shakes or atkins bars during induction and nuts are not allowed until the appropriate rung!

      My question is, after you lost all that weight in one month were you able to keep it off?

          Wow. Okay, that was *not* "basically 30 days of induction." Or really anything remotely resembling any phase of Atkins. Not even close. Experiencing "blackish face" and "sleepy" side effects are not--I repeat--NOT normal or healthy, and they should tell you that something is WRONG. Atkins is a great plan, and it really works. But you have to do THE PLAN. If you make it up as you go along, according to how you feel or just whatever you want to eat that day, you run some very serious risks of damaging your health.

          It's great that you found this board, and there is tons of support available to you here! Folks here care and WANT you to succeed! Get a copy of DANDR and read it, follow it, and you will see wonderful results with none of the scary side effects of before.

            Well, If you think about it ..it was like any low-carb diet. I ate less carbs than meats and never had any kind of sweets for 30 days. I don't think there was any risk because it simply was a low-carb diet. If you are doing Atkins word by word then yes you should follow the rules ..which are drinking enough water and taking vitamins or your might face the problems u've mentioned.

            In brief, u should feel tired and energyless IFFF you were doing atkins and not following the rules. BUT, if you are just doing a low-carb diet with a bit more carbs than Atkins ...no sweets what so ever .. then I dont think there is a risk in it.

            I love Atkins but I cant count carbs by the gram. So this time I'll do Atkins but in a better way than what I did before. But a little less than the perfect Atkins.

            So far Im on my 5th day and have lost 6 Ibs and Im feeling great and more energized. We'll see how it goes.

                THen its not Atkins. Its things like this (blackish face and sleepy) that gives atkins a bad rap. Do it right or dont call it atkins.

                    gq- you are definitely not doing atkins by any stretch of the imagination, especially eating "any breads that came with" your salads, and breaded chicken and shrimp. Its possible that you changed your eating habits, eating less calories and sweets than normal, and if you have a large amount to lose, the weight will come off quickly at first. But you should consult a doctor before you start any diet plan, especially this one youve made up yourself, b/c you should not have a blackish sleepy face and feel unhealthy on any diet. Dont ignore your health just to see the scale go down.
                    I would rather struggle to do this, than struggle with the fact that I can't...

                        Yeah, you never did Atkins the last time, and you're not doing it now.

                        You might want to check the other lowcarb forums.

                          Please, please, PLEASE don't refer to what you are doing as Atkins. I get so sick and tired of defending Atkins to people. It's people who do their own so-called "modified" Atkins that is giving the legitimate Atkins a bad name. I implore you to please refer to your way of eating as your own low-carb version of eating... please don't use the word Atkins to describe it in any way.

                            i really wonder why you are calling what you are doing Atkins? Clearly it is not Atkins, and any post you make here regarding your way of eating is just going to be argued with by everyone on here, because you are not doing Atkins...do yourself a favor and get the book!

                            Also low carb snacks and shakes are basically crap. They are a waste of money and should be avoided, especially if it is induction you are attempting. Read the book and learn about acceptable foods for induction and beyond...The bars and shakes can be ok later for emergencies for some people...but certainly not for induction and not on any regular basis.

                            Also you shouldn't go around with your unhealthy diet, and tell people you are doing "atkins". There are too many people that do this, and that is part of what makes the Atkins diet look bad. You are just confirming people's misconceptions that the Atkins diet is unhealthy by doing your own version of some unhealthy, terrible diet and telling people you are on "Atkins".
