Re: Does anyone EAT butter?
um.. i have never just eaten butter on its own. I have mixed it with cream cheese , vanilla and splenda to make "clouds" though ( yumm) Are you keeping track of your carbs and calories on fit day? A whole stick of butter sounds like an awful lot of fat in one day on top of the other fat in meats etc. For induction you need to be aiming for certain percentages to keep things balanced nicely. 60% calories from Fat , 35% of calories from Protein and 5% calories from CarbsDonna

Re: Does anyone EAT butter?
Hello there cyberspacestar, I can't say I've done this myself. I read in Dr. Atkins revised on page 379 under pointers for success that butter and cream sauces should be "OCCASIONAL TREATS", not a daily part of your daily plan. I would think that he was talking about butter too. Best of health to you and yours! Hope this helps.MOTHEREARTH AKA SHERRI "HOW THE WORLD TURNS AS I SEE IT"

Re: Does anyone EAT butter?
Butter is fine, and yes... "fat is your friend" on Atkins. But if you eat too much (and nearly a stick per day sounds like a whole lot to me) then you will surely gain weight.
Check out your numbers on Fitday, perhaps. Before and after:

Re: Does anyone EAT butter?
I'm concerned why you are feeling hungry. One of the side effects of lipolysis/ketosis is appetite suppression. The only times I've felt hungry during my Atkins was when I didn't eat enough during my meals. So if you are eating a stick of butter throughout the day, it tells me you aren't eating enough food during your meals and that's why you are getting hungry between meals.Originally posted by cyberspacestarI find myself getting hungry and not wanting to make anything... so i eat butter. Does anyone else do this ? Butter is allowed so eating it plain won't hurt my weightloss, right? Today I almost went through a whole stick of butter throughout the day today!
So please open a fitday.com account and plug your foods into it so you can see how much food you are eating. OR you can post your menu in the "Review My Menu" forum of this board, for the folks there to review.

Re: Does anyone EAT butter?
I do not count calories, but when I am choosing food I try to get the healthiest choices with the right percentages. I tend to stay away from things like burgers (maybe once a week ill have one) as they are so high fat. I do add butter to alot of my veggies, but thats mostly because chicken is my prefered meat and its lean.
Do you think there is another reason behind eating just butter? Like you are craving something? I know when I was pregnant my doctor told me hormones can cause some women to crave things that are not even really food. It didn't happen to me, but I would investigate why you are eating butter. It can not possible taste good or feel right texture wise or atleast thats what I think.Female

Re: Does anyone EAT butter?
wow. Did you eat it like it was a candy bar and kept cutting up pieces through out the day? I thought eating that much butter could make you sick.Originally posted by cyberspacestarI find myself getting hungry and not wanting to make anything... so i eat butter. Does anyone else do this ? Re: Does anyone EAT butter?
There are alot of things you can eat that don't need cooked or prepared..why in the world would you eat butter??
I'm gagging just thinking about it.
Next time i would recommend celery and cream cheese or dip, keep some boiled eggs in the fridge on hand, can of tuna, piece of cheese etc.
just because something has 0 carbs does not make it a 'free food' ....Jen, 39, F

Re: Does anyone EAT butter?
Actually, I cooked eggs with butter, then spead butter on the steak i had, and the rest of the day, I cut the butter up in to small slivers during the day and let it dissolve in my mouth. After the day was done I noticed I ate the whole stick throughout the day!! OMG! (embarrassed grin)
I had the atkins book a while ago, but I don't have the copy anymore to refer to. i knew you didn't need to count calories and i knew the more fat you have the more weight you loose. For some odd reason, I was so hungry yesterday. I wasn't hungry at all a few days prior and maybe I didn't eat enough in the last few days...So I became ravenously hungry yesterday. I have been loosing weight slowly compared to you guys. My starting weight was 160lbs and I'm 5'2. Two weeks ago I was down to 152. (8 pounds down) I'm trying to get down to 130lbs. I have not been counting calories on fitday. i basically have no carb at all except the celery. maybe i should take MORE carb? I am usually way below 20 carb a day.
The only thing is I have to wait for the begginning of the month september to go food shopping again because the only vegatable I have in the fridge is celery.
If you eat more than 4 ouces of no carb crackerbarrel cheeze, will that stall you? Even though cheeze has no carb... does it have hidden carbs?

Re: Does anyone EAT butter?
Hi cyberspacestar,
You should be getting 3 cups of veggies on induction. Eating way below 20 carbs is no good! The majority of your carbs on induction should come from your veggies. Also, Dr. Atkins says you should have just 3-4 ounces of cheese on induction. If you don't have the book, check ebay, half.com, or amazon.com. You can probably get the book for VERY cheap. If that's not possible, or until the book comes, read the stickys on this board. I know there is a sticky somewhere about the rules of induction, and what you can and cannot have. Don't forget to drink your water!!!!

Re: Does anyone EAT butter?
Yes, I read the stickys with the induction rules. I don't have the cash to buy the book again so i rely on this site for info. i used to participate on this site years ago as well, forgot what my user name was back then though.
I made a mistake when i went food shopping not to buy more veggies....so i have to wait till the first of the month to buy more veggies for next month. So I'm going to have to deal with just celery intake as a veggie until I get some brocholi or somthing next weekend. Damn, i haven't been doing atkins EXACTLY right, but i have lost about 8 pounds.
