  • Starbucks Iced Tea - Unsweetened but deadly?

    Hey guys!

Despite DANDR, I do have some caffeine every day. I usually have a doppio espresso in the a.m. and a cup of black coffee during the day. True to my low carb lifestyle, I thought I'd drop that cup of coffee and replace it with a large Starbucks Iced Green Tea - unsweetened!!

Well...it is after summer and after vacation and I'm down in inductoin. I really wanted to lose a few lbs and not just maintain. As you guys likely know - this makes me at least more sensitive to carb.

I drink one of these unswettened things and ....a little while later....get fuzzy in the head. A mild sugar crash! Yet it is unsweetend. So I check the incredients: Lemon Grass; Green Tea; and lemon verbage (whatever that is). In any event....anyone else had this experience??!!

Maybe you're allergic to one of the ingredients. Is the last ingredient supposed to be Lemon Verbena? It's a plant of some sort. I don't know what lemon verbage is.

      Green tea (“ocha”)
The Japanese insist that you imbibe green tea with every meal. They will swear that its healthy, fail to inform you that it is chock-full of caffeine, then smile secretly to themselves while you bounce off the walls.

Whilst I have been in Japan, looking at the ingredients of these pre-made bottled green tea drinks, not only do they have some ridiculous caffeine content. I have also noticed that an added ingredient is nicotine.

Out the about one hundred different types and brands available, I've only found one that doesn't have caffeine, and about 60 that don't have nicotine.

Lemon-something-or-other. I bet you're right. I love green tea - but this is their "Zen Tea" - which I think must od something. It sure felt different.
