  • Eating at night?

Just wondering if you all eat after dinner. I usually eat dinner between 5-7:30pm and I get hungry again at like 9 or so. I eat all according to the plan, and eat a bit above my BMR. My percentages are accurate on fitday. I know we aren't supposed to go hungry, but I really hate eating late, but don't want my body to think it's starving.

    What do you guys do?

I eat about 6pm and always get hungry by 9pm too. I don't like to eat late either. Since I recently have stopped eating after 8pm, I did notice I have lost extra weight, it really adds up. When I get hunger pangs, I try to drink a bottle of water or exercise, it usually helps. Or if I really need to eat, I supplement with a low carb snack like eggs. But remember Dr Atkins said eat if you are hungry and until you feel full but not stuffed. Otherwise, you might be tempted to overindulge due to the feeling of hunger.

Yeah, I think that might be it. I've been exercising alot harder lately. I don't won't all those calories to add up and my body to get used to eating later. I drink a ton of water.

I typically eat 2 eggs for breakfast with spinach, some chicken or ground turkey or hamburger for lunch with the appropriate fat amount and of course veggies. I really like a variety of veggies. For snack a hard boiled egg. For dinner some more meat and veggies. My percentages are normally right on the money. If anything maybe a 2-3% over what fat intake should be, but not often, I really strive for correct percentages. I really want to do this right.

I think maybe my body is getting used to the exercise?

Sometimes when I'm hungry I try to ignore it til it goes away... I find I lose more wt if I don't eat at night. I have a hard time telling the difference between head hunger and real hunger... so that's why I try to ignore it... drink water, or herb tea... and tough it out... do something to keep me busy.... but everyone's different. You may have to just see how it works for you and experiment a bit.

I try not to eat after 8PM. If I'm hungry, I will drink a bottle of water first. That usually fills me up. I try to go to bed at a reasonable hour, too, that way I am less likely to snack.

                Re: Eating at night?

The best thing I did for myself was start eating breakfast by 8:00 am and have dinner at 6:00 pmish and nothing after 7:00 pm. I used to (before Atkins) eat just enough early in the day to take meds, then start dinner at 7 or 8 o'clock and would be hungry and keep eating the rest of the night. I am disabled and ate a lot of that stuff in bed. It was a hard habit to break, but I did and I have had my eating times under control for almost two years. I also vowed to eat nothing anywhere but at the table. It took awhile to get over the "habit" of wanting to munch all night long, but I almost never wanted to eat late after a couple of months of sticking to my guns.
