I was watching an epsiode of "The West Wing" in which one of the main characters is an alcoholic. When asked can he have just one drink, he replies that he doesn't want one drink...he doesn't understand one drink...he wants TEN drinks...he wants ALL THE DRINKS.
It reminded me of me and others I know on Atkins.
I'd get in with the groceries, open a box of Jaffa Cakes or a pack of Kit-Kats and a gallon of milk and before I had unpacked or even taken my jacket off...the whole packet would have gone along with a litre of milk!
I don't want a choccie bar, I want all of them. If you give me a slice of cake, I'm already eyeing up my second slice and panicing that I might not get it!
It's the same with Atkins bars...I know they stall some people but I was fine with them, so was gonna buy a box, but thought to myself, Bill...you'll eat loads of them at a time and then waht's the point!!!
Anyway...I'm babbling on here but was just trying to say that it really is an addiction isn't it? While on Atkins, the addiction goes away and the draving for sweets is absent...but after just one taste of something "bad" or "naughty" or whatever we wanna call it, it really is like an alcoholic having one drink. Can they have one drink? No! Can you have a little "naughty" or just a taste of something not in the acceptable list? NO!
Anyway, feel free to comment...had any trigger experiences yourself? What's your trigger food?
