  • Hypoglycaemia and Atkins

I had a dizzyness, cold sweat and vomiting episode last Saturday (no alcohol involved) and when I described the sequence of events to my Doc she said it was almost certainly a mix of Tiredness and hypoglycaemia .. has anyone experienced this before?

How did you cope with it? Does anyone have any advice about this?

Once again I was out on the road gigging and couldn't eat much of what was on offer at truck stops .. I didn't have time to prepare food to take with me either. Bananas are good but non-Atkins.
    Start weight 233 lbs .. 16 st 9 lbs ..105.8 kg (eek!!)
.... looking to lose at least 2 stone .. (28 lbs .. for the Americans )

check my myspace music page ...

    Re: Hypoglycaemia and Atkins

I have had episodes with it, although never been diagnosed by a doctor. I find that it mainly comes from un-stable sugar levels. The great thing about atkins is that it really stabilizes your blood sugar because of the controlled carbs and low sugar. You should eat every few hours, something small to keep your blood sugar levels consistent. This is what I do. Never eat sugar, flour or that kind of stuff cause that will cause your blood sugar levels to drop rapidly. I also find it helps to have a little protein, fat, and carbs with everything I eat. Hope this helps you. Make sure you are eating a variety of veggies so you get all of your nutrients, you can also supplement these. I do, I take calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Just be careful with magnesium because if you take too much it has a laxative like effect, no pleasant.
